Extra's: The best extra this time was the 11 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Jamal "Jizzman" Johnson (allegedly Robby's simpler cousin). While he may not be as skilled as Max Maximo, Jamal had some fun with the ladies and the comic interludes (the result of Nick, Willem, and/or Joey at work by the looks and sounds of it) were as silly but appreciated as ever (picking on Judas Priest, Robby's propensity to feel up the ladies on and off camera, and "Jamal Playground"?!?) and seeing more footage of Jana is always a good thing in my book. There was a photogallery, a cum shot recap, and trailers for movies such as Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge (Blu-ray), Island Fever 4 Blu-Ray, Jack's POV 1 Blu-Ray, Cheerleaders BR, Babysitters BR, Pirates BR, Contract Star BR, and Island Fever 3 BR.

Audio/Video Quality: Jana Cova: Sexual Freak 4Blu-ray was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color as shot by director Robby D. (with Scott K working the second camera) for Digital Playground, the 1080i resolution and AVC codec enhancing the high definition production more than a little this time (especially on my 60" television). The movie was yet another fusion of gonzo and art, allowing for the ladies to be presented in a unique manner visually as the camera work enhanced their looks considerably. The lighting limited any grain, video noise, or other distracting issues; showing critics like yours truly that a touch of artistic vision can go a long way and not ruin a heated scene. The DVD was mastered nicely too, with no compression artifacts or other troubles getting in the way as the ladies engaged in various sexual antics very nicely. The editing by Joey "The Man" Pulgadas was as superior as ever; giving Nick and Kurt a run for their money with the way he offered up the scenes here. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English but the separation between the channels was rare and the dynamic range was largely limited to the often obscure but catchy music. There were a few spots where I thought QC missed a shout or two by Robby (around 47:42 for example) but the only real complaint I had was that the ladies weren't all readily employing dirty talk in the scenes.

Body of Review: Robby D. has recently been touted as one of the finest directors in porn by the "Johnny Come Lately" critics, apparently they were too busy fawning over some other flavor of the week directors during the last few years until he caught their eye with his extensive body of work at Digital Playground. That said, unlike so many of his peers that find a specific style and stick to it religiously, he tries new things on a regular basis to expand the boundaries of the medium; serving as mentor to friends also trying to break free as well as showing the world that his vision of a better world for porn did not have to be sacrificed for expedience or cost savings as they have claimed in the past. Robby's latest work is another example of his ability to provide a different kind of gonzo, the kind where a formula is tossed out in favor of crafting a special glimpse into some very special ladies, in this case, the beautiful and sexy Jana Cova with Jana Cova: Sexual Freak 4 Blu-ray. The movie was a series of vignettes and while Jana was only in two scenes, the majority of material in the movie was decently played out, giving fans of all sorts something to appreciate. I'll admit that I hoped for three full hours of Jana doing tease and other women but some of the B/G scenes were actually very well done too and I'm glad they rated enough to stay in the movie. In short, Jana Cova: Sexual Freak 4 was full of chemistry, energy, and provided fans of hardcore action and Jana Cova alike with some serious stroke material to enjoy while we wait for her next titles to come out on Blu-ray. In terms of the high definition upgrade, this one really did manage to look better, perhaps the guy mastering it paying a bit more attention than usual, but ultimately, some gals look better in higher resolution and Jana Cova is one of them.
