Audio/Video Quality: Jesse’s Yearbook was presented in the same aspect ratio the scenes were originally shot by Robby D. and other directors for Digital Playground. Unlike some compilations on the market, this one cut right to the sex so each scene was edited to a degree, nothing crucial for the majority of rain coaters and no company watermark onscreen at all times but parts of the buildup missing. Each scene looked fairly similar with decent lighting, solid camera work, and respectable flesh tones but the scenes were shot quickly so your mileage may vary. The video bit rate varied considerably but the scenes looked much like I remember the originals otherwise if that helps your decision. The aural components were presented in Dolby Digital but there was no headspace, special effects, or anything else that made me think the sound was rendered in anything except for monaural or basic stereo and then had a surround track encoded in post production. Regardless, I could hear most of the cast just fine, including those behind the camera when I paid attention, that always part of the fun of the series.

Body of Review: Robby D. has long been one of the most creative and talented directors in all of porn, his work for Vivid and Digital Playground often way ahead of the pack of peers that would emulate just about anything he did. I have not heard from him in quite some time but wherever he ended up, his latest release from DP is a compilation of his older works called Jesse’s Yearbook, a variety of scenes starring Jesse Jane through her years as a contract performer for the company. The single disc release included a couple hours of material, much of it strokable with a great cast in the scenes, the emphasis advertised as focusing solely on Jesse Jane, a fair number of them involving former company contract performers. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Beat The Devil: Jesse Jane, in what was her first filmed scene, took on Mark Davis in yet another smoking scene. There was very energetic oral by both of them and when the boning started, they both let loose. Her dirty mouth and willingness to embrace her passion (as compared to the company's former contract gal, Tera Patrick, who was a cold fish) was more than he could handle.

Scene Two: Loaded: Jesse Jane, the leading lady of the movie and easily the reason why most people would consider buying it, was up next in a bed scene with the muscular Lee Stone. I've seen almost all of her movies and still maintain that she gets better as she learns more about how to portray sex in a porno so this really doesn't hold up compared to her newer work but it was still a very well done scene. The lack of a vocal track really weakened it and I've never been a fan of her implants but her charisma enhanced the scene a lot for me. Both seemed turned on during the oral but it was the vaginal ride where she aggressively bounced on his cock and if you watch the BTS feature; you'll see how much she enjoyed the sex even when the primary cameras weren't rolling. The sex was so strong between them that he popped early on her abdomen and she kissed him gently before the plot based stuff came back into focus.

Scene Three: Devon: Erotique: Jesse Jane, playing a housewife of sorts lounging around on the couch in her underwear seemingly from a 1940's noir film, had the following masturbation scene as she nursed a drink. I've long preferred seeing her in full action, riding a guy like there was no tomorrow, but this was one time when I came to fully appreciate Celeste's slower style for the sheer diversity if nothing else. The big band music really worked well here; even better than in most of the other scenes, and reminded me a lot of some of the classic porn loops (long before the days of features) of decades gone by. The only thing that weakened it in that sense was the use of the glass dildo (which I like in contemporary settings a whole lot) and stripper shoes as they took away from the concept slightly.

Scene Four: Posh Kitten: Jesse Jane, looking straight off the front DVD cover in her white & pink polka dot bikini (don't fret, it comes off quickly), is outside of a visually interesting pool on an overcast day. She applied some sunscreen to her body while the mighty stud Evan Stone watched her, later assisting her endeavor to make sure the cutie doesn't burn. Needless to say, this causes him to get a boner and she finds great solace in blowing him. The action was again in slow motion, a Celeste trademark move, and the couple screwed in a few positions at an angle considered by most to be made for late night cable rather than hardcore porn. Still, she looked great and took the facial well enough. I would've preferred it take place in real time, that she have a better makeup job, and that it last far longer but I'm told (well, nudged really) that women prefer this visual style (and women make up a large part of Digital Playground's audience unlike most gonzo porn).

Scene Five: Hush: Jesse Jane, seductively working her bottle of Rolling Rock beer at the bar, was finding the atmosphere a little too warm so she started unzipping and taking off her clothing while bartender Rick Patrick (her special partner in real life), ogled her. It was clear what effect the action was having on him and she coyly continued as she climbed up onto the counter, gyrating her hips and establishing what she wanted fairly quickly (but not letting him have it right away). The oral showed he enjoyed her taste and she was already notable for her excellent blowjobs in the movie, leading to the final active romp of the flick. I was pleased that the tease and oral lasted longer then the boning, with the pop shot landing on her lower back, ending a decent little scene.

Scene Six: Jesse Jane: Fuck Fantasy: Jesse Jane, the hotty on the left of the front cover, was up first as she buoyantly bounced into the living room where Charles Dera was making plans to play a game of football with his pals. Jesse wanted him all to herself so she put on a skimpy little cheerleader outfit and wiggled around in teasing fashion before making him wear a jock strap. Jesse was wearing a frilly tan dress initially but it was lost in the edit point for James to have her on the table to romantic music. She then blew him to completion but the scene seemed very short to me so your mileage may vary regarding the scene, it being made for a different audience; the romance angle a bit forced (according to my girlfriend as it didn’t matter to me).

I rated the compilation from the company archives as a very solid Rent It, my belief that unaltered scenes work best in their original context, enough of these ladies showing how much they enjoyed gobbling gash that you’d think the company might have listed the scenes on the cover. In short, Jesse’s Yearbook was advertised as having a plethora of Jesse Jane scenes, one from each year, for those that might have missed out as they were released so give it a look if this appeals to you.
