Note: The following is a review for the HD DVD version of Jack's Teen America: Mission 4, a flagship spin off title for Digital Playground that was released in standard definition DVD a long time ago to heaps of praise from reviewers and fans alike. The content of the movie was the same and the extras barely modified to include HD DVD trailers that show off the higher resolution of the titles that are either out or about to come out in the popular new format. The quick version of the review is that the show looks substantially better but it always looked pretty good so it's value as a double dip will depend on your wallet. On a side note, the audio on my copy stopped at the 99:33 minute mark so until I can verify that it is my copy that is defective, be forewarned regarding the title.  I suggest you check out this Jack's Teen America: Mission 4 to get a better idea of what it looks like in this new form.  Enjoy!

Audio/Video Quality: Teen America 4 HD was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio widescreen color it was shot in by director Robby D. for Digital Playground using a full 1080p resolution and the AVC/MPEG-4 codec to provide a substantially improved picture from the SD version that came out long ago. Digital had the foresight to shoot using the latest technology and their back catalog is only now being released in HD-DVD (Blu-Ray starting soon) so expect a lot of improvements as the company becomes more handy with the new formats. This is one of those times when the HD treatment enhanced the picture enough to merit a double dip by true fans of the ladies though it was far from “6 times the quality” the format offers according to advertising promoted by the format developers. Still, the slightly rough look of the project added some charm to the feature and while Robby has certainly become more competent in shooting HD flavored porn, the composition of the shots always favored the ladies. The grain of the original and compression artifacts were minimized and the resolution was great enough that what once looked like solid colored walls could now be seen to have some texture to them (and holes). The BTS looked poor by comparison but in the feature, the fleshtones were accurate and the blacks almost as solid as some of Robby’s latest works (and editor Joey Pulgadas did some good work here). The audio was presented with the upgraded 5.1 Dolby Digital + and the improvements were slighter here with little separation between the speakers in most cases, but some added clarity of the vocals all the same. As time marches on, porn audio tracks have not marched along as much as their mainstream counterparts, an area that I note with increasing frequency, but some of the hiss I got when I turned up the SD version to high levels was not as obvious so the dynamic range was enhanced as well as the thump of the bass; most of which I believe were added in post production.  As a side note, the audio stopped on my disc near the end of the fourth scene and stayed off during the entire fifth scene.  This might be the result of scratches on the disc that came from when it fell off the center spindle but I will update the review as soon as I get a second copy to compare it to or the company confirms it's a mastering error (see what happens when you actually watch the entire disc?).

Body of Review: One of my favorite comedy series in the past couple of years has been the Jack's Playground series by Digital Playground's lead director, Robby D. While it started off a bit weak and still has its share of occasional minor problems, I've grown very fond of the series due to his use of interesting gals, the lack of a set formula for the scenes, and the attitude it routinely displays. Apparently, others like it too since the series has now spun off a reality styled comedy, Teen America. This new show centered on our budding director as he records scenes of hot young gals having sex in an effort to win a mythical beauty contest. The sound man is the stud of choice and they vary with each scene but also help provide comic relief as Robby attempts to showcase the gals. My biggest complaint with the Jack's Playground series has long been the brevity of the volumes and this series seems to have gone out of its way to shut me up (which is fine by me) by having a lot of fuck for the buck. Teen America 2 had nearly three hours of prime footage and the latest volume I've had the chance to see, Teen America 4 HD, was well over two hours long. If you like seeing hot young gals showing off their moves on camera, read the following breakdown of scenes by cast and action:

Scene One: The Paper Girl: Jasmine Byrne, the attractive gal on the right side of the front DVD cover, was up first, playing a newspaper gal (selling them, not writing for them) that "really" wanted to win the beauty contest. She began by stripping right off a busy street, going so far as to finger her ass and taste it. She then went to a nice home for her scene with audio guy Scott Nails, giving him a great blowjob (nice gagging action too) before he hammered away at her lovely pussy and ass. If you like cute gals that do it all, she would be a solid choice to check out and this was one of her best scenes to date. The anal was better than average, from the first insertion of the blue anal balls to the licking and pounding action of his cock, and I can see why she has been sought after by fans all over the place.

Scene Two: The Food Service Engineer: Gianna Lynn, playing a waitress for Robby behind the restaurant, teased the camera nicely and claimed to be a great cock sucker. There were some funny word balloons employed here (like those in comic books) and Jean Val Jean seemed very excited to get some of her once they went back to a secure location (inside a house). The theme was on bondage and she wore a submissive blindfold as he tormented her lightly with a riding crop on her horny, lean body. When given a chance, she proved her oral ability up to the task by giving a very nice blowjob before he started banging her tight body on the rug. The most extreme she got (unlike the others who did anal) was to do some PTM (pussy to mouth) but the two looked good together. It ended with a facial of large proportions for those who care.

Scene Three: The Anal Nut Job: Tyla Wynn, a lean brunette that was likely told to act like a goofball, showed off her 19 year old body as she played with a stick pony (the kind kids use with a stuffed horse head on the end of a stick) and stuck a butt plug with horses hair into her ass. Her partner was Scott Nails and he continued the anal exploration of the movie as she used a glass anal plug to stretch herself open (before tasting it). She then blew him with a playful energy that seemed driven to succeed (or was that suck seed?) before opening her pussy and ass for his use. She wasn't the most active of the cast but the scene wasn't bad either as she gave it some decent energy with PTM and ATM action to ice the cake.

Scene Four: Foreign Exchange Student: Katsumi, the young Asian gal showcased on the middle of the front DVD cover, was up next as she spoke French and the subtitles all made it seem like she was flipping Robby off. I thought it was very funny for the most part and I knew Tommy Gunn wanted to rip her wide open by the way her was looking at her. For those who aren't familiar with Katsumi's past, she has been one of the most extreme anal queens in porn for some time now; ending up in many hot scenes with her ass taking large pipes of all shapes and colors in front of the camera. In this scene, Tommy started warming her up orally as she was stripped of her clothing and made to feel welcome. Her performance, from the awesome oral to the ball draining anal with ATM, was fantastic and I can see why Robby and Digital Playground keep using her services. Whew! (On a side note, the audio cut out during the anal exploits here, well before the population pudding flowed, and it never picked back up during the rest of the movie.)

Scene Five: The Horse Drainer: Haley Paige, the cute brunette on the left side of the front DVD cover, looked much like contemporary performer Kelly Kline as she showed off her body to Robby and Scott Nails at her place. Her ass looked very sweet and the guys wanted to nail her so bad they could taste it; making it no surprise that Scott soon diddled her against a glass pane. The two then started getting serious, doing oral, vaginal and anal with ATM after some stretching action with a toy. I thought it was interesting when she claimed to work as a horse drainer (jerking off horses to get their semen for breeding purposes) and Scott didn't seem to mind her gloved approach any more than the way she sucked his shaft or gave a titty fuck. The emphasis was on anal though and while she didn't exactly move much when he was inside her ass, the scene still looked pretty hot to me.

Summary: Teen America 4 HD was very entertaining to me and managed to rate a solid Rent It for the way in which it provided a substantially pleasant amount of fuck for the buck (though not as much as the last volume I got to review); my rating might go higher if my HD copy proves to be the rare defective disc. The cast was attractive, the technical values decent, and my impression of the series was that gonzo fans should quit being snobs and check this one out. It offered a lot of anal sex, plenty of tease footage, and a playful sense of humor often missing in the current marketplace. Robby D. has the right combination of technical skills and sense of sly humor that helped make this an award winning series, instilling a lot of replay value while at the same time managing to get things fresh.  The HD upgrade in this case should satisfy established fans and new comers alike, the quality of the picture markedly better to those with the right equipment to handle it.
