Have Sex, Will Travel–XCritic Attends the 2011 EXXXotica New Jersey Show

A week after a rare October snow storm blasted its way through the New York Tri-State area, another rare event occurred this past weekend. A gathering of adult stars converged into Edison, NJ to celebrate all things porn at the 2011 EXXXotica New Jersey expo.

I, along with my XCritic colleague Ravyn C, and our photographer were among the thousands that attended EXXXotica New Jersey, which once again broke attendance records set just last year. Fans from the Tri-State area and beyond helped made the East coast the home of the adult industry once again, if just for the weekend. Various vendors from all facets of the sex industry were present, promoting and selling their merchandise. From sex aids, sex candy, gentlemen’s clubs, to gentlemen delivering eye candy for the non-porn ladies, there was something for everybody.

I was even excited to see large and lovely ladies, who normally don’t have too much of a presence at these conventions, walking around the convention floor. If you love BBWs, there was a booth for that. One of the ladies I encountered, Mimi Melons, took time to tell me about the BBW Fan Fest, a BBW convention being held in Vegas next year. Looks like I have plans for next summer. I admit I got carried away with the ladies, as you’ll see in the photos belows. BBWs . . . you gotta love them.

Of course, the reason we go to EXXXotica is to check out the girls. The main sponsors of the event were located in the middle of the convention center. Hot Movies, CLUB Spotlight, LA Direct, AEBN, along with other event sponsors were where the girls sat at their assigned booths, greeting fans and making (some of) their dreams come true. As a porn fan first and foremost, this is the part of the business I love—fan interaction. Among the big name talent present included Kristina Rose, Ash Hollywood, Britney Stevens, Prinzess Felicity Jade, Sunny Leone, Mercedez, Alexis Texas, Stoya, Kelly Divine, Misty Stone, Nyomi Banxxx, Anne Marie Rios, Abella Anderson, Tanya Tate, Kirsten Price, and countless others.  Here are a few more girls we spotted this weekend.

When I wasn’t just checking out the girls, I did get a chance to speak with some of the performers when they had a rare free minute. I spotted young Latina sensation Nikki Delano, making her first EXXXotica NJ appearance. In the business since February she’s well aware of the importance of events such as EXXXotica and fan interaction. “They’re the most important thing. Without the fans you’re not going to be here.” Already featured on several DVD boxcovers and an appearance in the recent American Dad XXX parody—where she worked with veteran cocksman Evan Stone—she took a moment to shout out her publicist Erika Icon for helping to make it happen. “I love Erika. Erika, I love you!”

I was intimidated to approach Julie Simone, a woman who’s reputation exceeds her. No way would I ever approach Julie if it weren’t for the small bit of courage my press badge empowers me with. Julie was actually very sweet and very nice as we talked for a bit.

Julie was there to promote her new signature Julie Simone paddle, which I had the honor of having Julie try out on me. Having never done anything BDSM-related, I can now say I was dominated by the top dominatrix in the BDSM world.

“Events like these are important because it’s good to meet your fans and to show your appreciation,” says the adult industry veteran. “Without them you’re nothing. It’s good to give back and it’s nice to interact with people.” Despite her reputation as a tough as nails chick, Julie admits that the real Julie Simone is more agoraphobic than her fans realize. “I’m painfully shy so it’s a little difficult for me. Throughout the day it gets easier but it’s hard because I’m out among the people. I’m an introvert. I know . . . it doesn’t make sense to most people but once I get into what I’m doing then it’s great.”

My favorite part of the day was interviewing Alex Chance, an up and coming 22-year-old performer from Virginia. Recently signed to Vangard Talent, Alex had actually arrived to EXXXotica after shooting a POV scene that morning for East Coast Cuties.

My XCritic colleague Bill the Hobbyist will have more on Alex in the coming days. Alex did share that her goal in porn was to really make a name for herself. “Make a long career out of it,” Alex says. “I don’t want to be one of those girls that’s in the business for a couple of months just to say they did porn.”

I think she has star quality written all over her. If nothing else, she’s blessed with a terrific set of 36 DDD tits, which Alex was nice enough to let me fondled. And she definitely wasn’t shy about posing for me in an impromptu photo session on the convention floor.

One of her goals was to meet porn’s ultimate big tit queen, Gianna Michaels, which I—and I take full credit for—helped make happen. After letting me know she wanted to meet Gianna because “I like girls who are either built like me or much smaller,” off we went to wait on line to speak with the woman I consider a goddess. And here they are giving one another a goodbye kiss. Feels good to be able to make a young pornstar dreams come true. Guys, when you see them perform together, you can thank me for it.

So that’s my report. I hope to be there next year. Whether I am or not, EXXXotica will most certainly be back. And why not? EXXXotica NJ shows that while the adult industry’s base of operations is on the West coast, it’s largest fan base is centered out East. In my opinion, there needs to be more appearances by the girls in the East coast, and I believe we will be seeing more girls coming out to New York on a regular basis. The fans, and XCritic, will be there covering their appearances.
