Ed Wood was once regarded as the worst director that ever lived, back in the halcyon days before Uwe Boll, Len Kabasinski, and Tommy Wiseau happily took that inglorious title for themselves. In addition to his lame but lovable sci-fi flicks like Plan 9 From Outer Space and Bride of the Monster, Wood also made some "nudie" flicks like Orgy of the Dead and Pretty Models All in a Row, but not many people know that he also shot some honest-to-goodness porn flicks too. Now they've been rediscovered, remastered, and are set to be re-released on DVD this fall.
According to XBIZ (link below), we have "porn archaeologist" Dimitrios Otis to thank for this discovery.
Discovered by “porn archaeologist” Dimitrios Otis in 2007, “The Young Marrieds” is acknowledged to be Wood’s final film. This discovery follows Otis's other discovery of the lost porno chic relic, Canada's first hardcore porn film “Sexcula.”
Ed Wood’s "The Young Marrieds" will be released on DVD on Nov. 18 by After Hours Cinema as part of a three-film collection titled "Ed Wood's Dirty Movies.”
The distributors said the film is one of the most rare “lost” movies in cult filmdom, so much so it wasn’t even known if it existed.
Well, The Young Marrieds exists, and it's getting an exhibition prior to its DVD debut at New York's Anthology Film Archives on September 14. The DVD set Ed Wood's Dirty Movies will feature Nympho Cycler and Shot On Location. Check out the video below for an early look at The Young Marrieds.
