10 Reasons Why I Love Exxxotica

Once in a while, you’ll hear of a moment or a gathering that changes a person’s life. For many of us in the adult world, that place is Exxxotica. As we all know, Exxxotica is one of the largest porn conventions in the world, and takes place in four different venues across the United States.  

If you haven’t gone to Exxxotica yet, I strongly suggest you do. This is, by far, my favorite convention of any type to attend--and that’s saying a lot! As a porn person and as a person who just loves cool conventions, let me explain to you why everyone, industry insiders and otherwise, should give this con a shot. 

1. It helps you open your eyes to an industry that’s often ignored. Exxxotica New Jersey was my first real foray into the porn industry, and my first time going was thanks to a job I used to work at. When I went to my first Exxxotica, I was surprised to see how down-to-Earth everyone was and how relaxed the industry was. It pretty much inspired me to get more into the industry and meet people in it. 

2. You actually get to meet porn stars. For many people, it’s really shocking to see how mellow, upbeat, and down to Earth adult film stars are. It’s an experience, that’s for sure. It’s also really awesome to be able to see award-winning actresses and actors all under the same roof. 

3. There’s a lot of fun shows to watch. Do you like strippers? Of course, everyone does! Their twerking contest, pole dance shows, and music acts are amazing. In fact, I actually met people who attended just to see them!

4. You never know what’s going to happen. The last time I went to Exxxotica Edison, I ended up meeting a ton of new friends and even exchanged numbers with some people I immediately clicked with. I’ve also met others who have done adult videos for the first time at this convention. Literally, the sky’s the limit.

5. You can learn about kink and healthy sexuality. Wicked Playground got my husband into flogging me. Several other stands taught me about new concepts in sexuality, while others also taught me new things about how the human body reacts to sex. It’s a fairly educational convention, especially if you’re curious about sexuality and relationships. 

6. If you want a career in porn, Exxxotica can be a veritable job fair. The coolest thing about Exxxotica, in my opinion, is the networking possibilities. You can literally run into a person who will offer you a modeling job, a marketing job, or even just some cash to hand out flyers. It’s a great place to be if you want to break into porn. 

7. The Exxxotica floor is an incredible place to shop for new toys. One thing I just never get tired of seeing is the sheer number of new sex toys, lubricants, lotions, and potions people are offering up for sale. If you’re a fan of experimentation like I am, then you better expect to go broke here. The toys are just too good to pass up. 

8. Exxxotica also has amazing non-profit stands. This past Exxxotica Edison, I saw a stand dedicated to fundraising for veterans. I also saw stands that involved advocating for sex workers’ rights, stands for sexual health, and even stores that make feminist panties. It’s amazing what causes you’ll find supported here. 

9. You might meet other like-minded individuals, if you get what I mean. There are a lot of swinger couples who go to these things. Wink, wink, nudge nudge!

10. It’s a date weekend that you’ll never forget. If you’re with someone and you’ve been wondering how to get that spark back, this is a great way to do it. This place offers a ton of ways to explore each other’s bodies and also learn something new about yourself.
