Thanks in no small part to my article on the subject this past Tuesday, it looks like Jaqueline Laurent-Auger is getting her job back. In an unprecedented bit of backtracking for a good cause, officials at Le Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal admitted that they overreacted to news that Laurent-Auger had appeared in several softcore movies over 40 years ago, and offered to rehire her.
This news comes to us courtesy of Timmins Press (link below), who has been covering the story since her dismissal in July.
"We recognize that the whole issue could have been handled different, and it's necessary to correct the situation," Le College Jean-de-Brebeuf said in a statement.
"The college management is absurd. There was nothing mean or dirty in these films," Laurent-Auger said Monday.
At the time, school officials said that since the videos emerged the "climate" in Laurent-Auger's classroom was "not conductive to learning."
On Tuesday, however, the school reversed its decision, saying it has contacted Laurent-Auger about returning to her job.
This calls for a celebration...
