Netflix Picks: Seduction And Its Consequences

Everybody gets seduced every once in a while--by a person, substance, or idea--and often you don't realize it until after you're hooked. It's nice being hooked! At least, it's nice for a while, and then you have to pay the price.

1. Quills: Geoffrey Rush plays the Marquis de Sade and that alone should be enough of a reason to watch this film. Historians complain that "Quills" is riddled with factual errors about the Marquis's life, but who cares? Most of the plot takes place in an asylum where the Marquis continues to write his blood-boiling works and has them smuggled out with the help of laundress Madeleine "Maddy" LeClerc (played by Kate Winslet). Maddy is in love with the Abbe who runs the asylum, but she finds herself uncontrollably drawn to the Marquis for his intelligence and experience. What does this get her? Not much good. What does the Marquis's obsession with words get him? He ends up writing with his own blood when they take his ink away. What does all of this seduction and drama get you? Nudity from Kate Winslet and Rebecca Palmer at 40:00, 1:21:00, and 1:50:00.

2. Viva Riva!: Riva (Patasha Bay) is a hustler in Kinshasa, the largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The country is suffering from a fuel shortage, but Riva and his pal know a way to secure a secret stash of petrol that they can sell at a huge profit. Unfortunately, they're not the only ones who know about the fuel stash: a female military officer, a scary foreigner, members of the church, and a big evil crime lord are all vying for the stuff. Just to make things more complicated, Riva falls for the crime lord's girlfriend, Nora (Manie Malone), the most seductive woman in all of the DRC. It's bad news for Riva but great news for us! That Manie Malone has a crazy sexy tub scene at 51:00, and you can see more naughty stuff at 28:00 and 54:00 as well.
