Congrats on your nomination for AVN MILF Performer of the Year! How does it feel being nominated for that honor?

"It feels incredible because it means the fans have spoken and that affects me in a profound way!"

Who else nominated in this category inspires you as a performer?

"This is a great question! When I look at the list of performers in this category, I see a list of women who each brings something unique to adult entertainment. Some are superstars within a certain niche, others are known for their realism or certain skill set and yet others for their body of work. Their dedication to excellence within that 'thing' that makes them special inspires me. One of the women on that list inspires me for her unwavering dedication to ideals that are equally important to me. Those who read this will either know instantly or be able to figure it out with a little research!" (Here's a hint. - HK)

You have a super new star showcase coming out for Sweetheart Video, "Brandi Loves Girls". What do you think makes this stand apart from other star showcases that you have had made about you?

"Well, this was a first, so I can't really speak on the 'differences'. I have had other companies put out ' best of Brandi Love'-type compilations that I thought were incredible. However, Sweetheart Video went for a full-on feature following one story, that story being a series of my personal fantasies. Not only did I get to participate in the scene outlines, but I also created the list of amazing women I would get to shoot them with. Having the fans ultimately pick the women via the Twitter competition made it even hotter! Each scene has its own sexual tension and energy. I connected with each in such a unique and passionate way. It was an absolute honor to be given this opportunity and I hope the fans enjoy watching the movie as much as I enjoyed making it!"

AVN Hall of Famer Dana Vespoli directs the majority of Sweetheart's movies so you have been getting to work with her a lot. What do you love most about working with her?

"Over this past year, I have come to genuinely respect and enjoy working with Dana Vespoli. Professionally, she is organized, creative, and passionate about Sweetheart's productions. There are traits and skill sets that are important in good leaders. They inspire people like me who draw energy from that passion. Personally, I adore her. If we are honest, everyone knows it's challenging to develop meaningful relationships in this industry. I genuinely enjoy Dana's company and that admiration pushes me to give every scene my all."

What did you think of the fan choices for your co-stars in "Brandi Loves Girls"? Did any of their choices surprise you at all?

"If location, location, location drives success in real estate, then likewise fans, fans, fans drive my success in adult entertainment. Their support has allowed me to flourish into my 40's in an industry where youth is typically beneficial. I genuinely believe that, so when the fans choose my co-stars in a niche that dives into authentic female erotica, I'm not only thankful but I listen! My co-stars have been sensual, fun, and most importantly, the chemistry on set has led to some fantastic scenes."

How has being a Sweetheart Video contract performer been for you as an experience? What have been the greatest things about it?

"I'm in this phase of my career where I'm actually getting to explore my personal 'bucket list' in terms of scenes. I knew I wanted to be involved in a high-quality, female-centric project that was authentic. I wanted to be involved in something that had a very strong female fan base and that narrows down the opportunities. When I was approached by Sweetheart Video, it floored me. It was the right project with the right company at the right time. I cannot begin to tell you how professional Sweetheart Video and Mile High have been. From the girls to the executives, everything has been fun AND professional. Two things stick out in terms of 'greatest things" - the camaraderie within the organization and the new fan base. I had no idea that female connoisseurs of erotica were every bit, if not more, passionate than men! It's been a blast - challenging to manage but a blast!"

What does being nominated for MILF Performer of the Year do for you as a performer? How do you think that it impacts your career and/or your performances?

"I can honestly say I’m amazed that I get nominated for anything at all, LOL! I have no idea what the nomination process is or who specifically is involved in either the AVN or XBIZ nomination process, and THAT is precisely why I’m amazed that I get nominated for anything at all. The truth is that I’ve been an 'industry outsider' since 2004. This year, for the first time I have  Jonathan [Morgan] and Andre [Madness] at Nexxxt Level Talent Agency advocating on my behalf and I'm working directly with a well-respected studio in Sweetheart Video. I don't, however, spend a lot of money or any money advertising with the organizations who run the awards. And lastly, I don’t live in Los Angeles, which negates my ability to socialize with 'the industry'. I’m just a woman from North Carolina who truly enjoys what she does and counts herself fortunate to make a living doing something I have passion for.

Being nominated makes me proud and is important for two reasons: It means the fans like what I've done and it means the producers/companies like what I've done.

The fans are the most important group because aside from satisfying my personal kinks, that’s who I do this for. When the fans like what I do, I hear about it. I can see the results on  Twitter rankings, fan-based awards, in my email, and most importantly, I hear about it from the owners of the production companies. I hope that my fans never underestimate how good it makes me feel to hear the positive responses and even the constructive criticisms.

The producers are the second important group. Those who produce adult entertainment have a fiduciary duty to make adult entertainment that sells. Fan favorites sell, and this is why I am always booked solid when I travel to L.A. I’ve had numerous discussions with studio owners. Their feedback always makes me blush. I hear about their top-selling scenes, the reasons they use my footage in their ads and most importantly, I’m proud to be known as someone who is always on time, professional as well as courteous to the casts and crews. If bookings are a good barometer of where you're at in 'the industry', I’m doing just fine."

What advice would you give another female performer about being successful as a porn star?

"Embrace delayed gratification! I truly LOVE what I do. I’m not ashamed, I don’t have regrets and I treat this as a career. I get paid to explore the world's most pleasurable activity. It’s amazing, really. When I first started, the money was insane. It was new to me and I spent like a rock star. I paid the price for that foolishness. I did not embrace delayed gratification. Now, I save and invest every penny. I will still be able to retire from this industry and secure my future, but it’s impossible to regain the benefit of compound interest over those early years or to be perfectly blunt, I gave up about $1.4 million for cars, handbags, and ego. I’ll never make that mistake again. So the advice would be: Be absolutely sure this is what you want to do. Then make a career, not a paycheck."

What else is coming up for you?

"I am super excited for my "Brandi Loves Girls" showcase, out this week. I can't wait to hear from the fans, since they were so involved in the making of it. I'm also REALLY EXCITED about the upcoming feature with Sweetheart Video titled 'The Candidate'! This project pushed me way outside of my comfort zone, forced me to set aside my personal political belief system and genuinely consider the alternative. It was challenging and exhilarating! From what I've seen of the edits, it's as engaging as it is steamy!

This past week, I met with Jonathan and Andre at Nexxxt Level to strategically plan for 2017. I'm a make a plan/work that plan kind of girl so the strategy remains focused on my personal 'bucket list.' I want to continue to push my scenarios and performances to new levels and have my sights set on nominations outside the MILF category so stay tuned! Actually, that would be a good question for Fleshbot readers...what categories should I shoot for in 2017 and what would it take (other than anal LOL)?"
