Muse 2, Episode: 1 – What We Are Missing

Last year was a year where every single person on the planet needed a “Muse” in one way or another. It was the writers, critics, and voters who all proclaimed this to be such a thing with the Deeper series in 2020, and they did it in droves, mind you. When it came to awards season 2020 in the land of adult cinema, Kayden Kross, Deeper, and Maitland Ward, they all became household names in ways that are helping to shape the digital age of adult entertainment. Maitland Ward began a journey, one that may not come to end anytime soon, if ever! When it does, I think she will have changed the world. That is what Muse season one brought to the table. How do you top that? Why even try? I guess that is the biggest question this writer has for the Deeper family. With an even lengthier opening to season two, and the integration of the Trans genre into the mix, I can only imagine where it is that this series will go. Here at XCritic, we plan on being your guide the entire way through. Standing right by your side in this amusement park ride, that everyone seems to have bought a ticket to, with a cast that has performer of the year winners and much, much more. The Reveal:

School is in session, but the venue has changed. As have the classroom and its hungry minds. Maitland Ward commands a group of some of the brightest young starlets in the business, and it is intriguing to watch this story come to the surface. I do not know where they shot this scene, but it is not the Deeper “norm.” It is far, far more simple, and that is not always a bad thing. Avery Cristy and Lulu Chu steal the show when it comes to all the individual stories that are presented. Being tied together with episode one’s presentation. We meet most of the cast in this darkened classroom, and it is their presence on camera that makes you say wow, and I am not just talking about their beauty, but their acting. Lena Paul plays a role that tugs at the heart. The same from season one. Manuel Ferrara is in the same old suit as well, as Maitland Ward looks to escape her penthouse suite. It all has some good aspects of creativity, and bad, as you watch this tale unfold. One thing you will be, is thoroughly entertained, mixed with a slight itch of curiosity. You will be begging to scratch, and that is just the first twenty-five minutes, people!

This second season of Muse has a different feel.

One that is far stranger than the last, and again, I do not mean that in terms that make this production less desirable.

At least not entirely. We are privy to gain access to Maitland’s character in great detail within this episode.

The poetic entrance into the sexual part of this production is very intelligent, and art-like. Will it resonate with every porn fan?

That is the ultimate question. You can not help but look at the fans' views of this scene at Deeper.com.

Their voice matters, I don’t think what they are understanding is that Deeper seems to be going back to its roots with this opening chapter of Muse, season two.

Aubrey Kate’s character is the perfect example. As is that powerful soliloquy performed by Maitland Ward before we truly enter the realm of erotica.

Besides the choice of some bad actors, this entrance into the realm of dark thought and erotica is splendid.

I was more spellbound than last year's series to watch, and yes, I am talking about the parts without sex. Or, maybe I should say, the parts without exposed flesh.  

The Encounter:

Pussy licking that “cums” with a Marlboro medium. That is the dark wonder of Deeper. If you are not turned on by the erotic build-up to this scene, I do not think you have a pulse. Now, will you stay that way through the entire scene? That is another question that requires more than one answer. There is almost an hour of sex in this scene, but it is a blend of art, kink, and super sexuality that you just do not see every day. First and foremost, this is not Aubrey Kate’s best sexual performance, and for many reasons. That is such a travesty because this is one of Maitland’s finest sexual performances, and I am talking of her career. Pierce and Destiny, they blend into the painting, oh, so very well. Let us speak truths for the sake of the fans' hard-earned dollars. We do not get to see Aubrey Kate the way we should. That is why the fans bought tickets to this premiere. So they could see two powerhouses of porn get it on in more ways than one. We do not get that here. Not to the level it is built up to be. Yes, there is more to a sex scene than just powerful pumping and piston-like action. Aubrey Kate is awesome when it comes to oral and knows how to create one hell of a tease. As a performer, few can generate the wonder she can, but we do not get to see all of who she is as a performer here. Yes, that is a big minus with a film this massive. Maitland Ward, she does more than pick up the ball and run with it. Her dirty talk, her command of the scene. This woman is evolving into something big, something we may have never seen before in porn. This role is proof!

Pierce Paris, he is the unsung swordsman of this series. He delivers in full ladies and gentlemen. Destiny Cruz, her look will catch your eye and never let go of your imagination.

We do not get to see a lot of her, but what we do is something you won’t forget. Her anal is the best within this scene. Both of these performers deserve such massive applause when talking about the completion and beauty of this scene.

What else gives this scene a passing grade in the sex department? It is the length of this encounter. There is over an hour of wild, sweaty sex within the walls of this erotic art gallery. Maitland Ward gives the fans one of her greatest shows, and let us speak the truth here people, she is the star of the show and that is what fans came to see.

The oral is amazing, the group sex is spectacular. You will not go home empty-handed in the kink department, that is one thing I will say about the start of Muse, season two. The look into her character’s soul, with the close of this scene, it is mysterious, dark and something that shows another variable of people and sexuality. For isn’t that what a “muse” is in the XXX world? If you measure this scene by its sexual content, make sure you are measuring it with assholes and elbows.

This is a group scene, and there is a hell of a lot of group nastiness to what you are viewing. I will agree with the fans on the Deeper.com website, Aubrey takes away a tad from the level of nastiness with her performance. But, again, this is a group scene. Watching this scene through only one set of lenses would be a massive mistake. Maitland Ward, she has finally “cum” into her own. Pierce Paris, what a stud and submissive. Even Destiny Cruz allows her character and passion to be seen a tad. They play their roles well and entertain the hell out of you.

Sight, Sound, Specs:

The production team at Deeper gets a five-star rating when it comes to camera angles and art like dreamscapes within this first episode of Muse, season two. Hair and make-up. It is decent, not the best. Wardrobe, my God, wardrobe! This is what you expect from Deeper, Kayden Kross and a walk within the “Garden of Eden.” This script is one of Kayden’s best of all time. The cinematography is powerful and real. You will watch this story with a bowl of popcorn. It is that well acted and performed. Is the world ready to see such a creation? My answer is no, but almost. This production is years ahead of its time. It has the feel of something like Black Swan from Darren Aronofsky. There are so many paintings of erotica within this production. It will grab hold of any true fan of erotica. Now, on a note only industry folk will understand, bravo to the camera crew and the video editing team. You saved the day in so many ways in this production. You hid imperfections and showed off wonders in over realms. A gold star and a shot of whiskey is more than in line for those amazing folks who kept the fantasy rolling in the sex department.

Don Juan’s Bottom Line:

There are many stories within this season’s first episode, and there are equally a lot of players making these skits come alive. Not all of those players are good actors. I am not talking about the Lena Paul’s and Jessie Saints’. No, these ladies are an example of old story meeting new in the most powerful, and believable way. This opening chapter of the series is a smack in your face compared to last years. The writing, the characters, the bondage. This presentation takes no mercy upon anyone, and it takes a hell of a lot of guts to create a story with this much backbone and intelligence. It will not translate well with every fan in the XXX world. That does not mean it is anything less than earth shaking. Maitland Ward, she is already one of the best actors this industry has ever seen. Now, she is perfecting her sex-game. As a sexual performer, this woman gets better and better every year. Maitland has it all, and that spells something blissful for the world of adult cinema to indulge in. It is something they have never had. She has the height of a true model. Is a trained actor, writer, director. But what is at her core, is passion. Real world good looks,  beauty that is ripe and true to what fans want when they look to submerge themselves in fantasy. Now, the woman has almost perfected her sexual presentation. My God, how this industry has needed a star like Maitland Ward for many moons. You can not help but watch with ease and joy, as she creates everything within Muse, season two, episode one. She is flawless. I can not say the same for the rest of the cast. This scene is borderline Watch On Demand and Recommended. It takes the higher road because Aubrey Kate is a woman who knows how to catch your eye with her kiss, look, touch, and tongue. Maitland Ward gives what looks to be another award-winning performance. Which makes this partially what you paid for, if you are one of those people who jumped the gun in excitement, and signed up for that month membership at Deeper.com just for this world premiere. The close of this scene with Manuel is too much. It does add to the story, and that is the most powerful part of this creation. This is a XXX feature that you will gladly watch all the way through. It evokes you to the next chapter and that is also what gives it a passing grade.
