Awards season is quickly approaching, and it is time to showcase the works of true passion, within the world of true passion. Ricky Greenwood and Blue Moon Rising, are a combination of so many wonderful ideas that are years in the making. It does not get better for a fan, or a critic, when you get a director’s dream project to talk about. There have been many with this game changing storyteller who is making Missa X, a destination for film lovers in the land of XXX. For the few years I have known Ricky Greenwood, I can tell you that his passions are filmmaking, and the actors who bring his tales to life. He and Aiden Ashley have breathed life back into the world of acting and original thought within the realm of the XXX rating. Ricky’s love for old-school, “grindhouse” style productions, has always been alive within his award-winning works of art. Now, Missa X has given the man the ability to go all out with his imagination, and it seems he is bringing on the best in the business, all to make one of his true loves walk the earth in the pale moonlight. From Shawn Alff to Brooklyn Gray and Tommy Pistol, any “true-blue” lover of adult cinema will see, from the opening credits alone, that Blue Moon Rising is anything but your standard production. Fan reaction has been so/so since the film's debut in May, and it is time to find out if the genres of horror, erotica and dramatic thriller, can all come together to bring the world something it has never seen or known. It has all the ingredients to do so.

eXXXtras: (Stills Gallery & BTS Video) The stills frozen from the video are not good, but once again, it is a very hard scene to shoot, so I can imagine that pulling off the screen grabs were equally challenging. The “making-of” video is simply awesome. This is the kind of wonder we need with every XXX series in the world of adult films.

The Reveal:

One thing that is always certain with Ricky Greenwood, you never get the same thing twice. Not even when you have Dante Colle and Aiden Ashley paired together again for another encounter in the shadows. Aiden is a Ricky Greenwood staple of excellence. If you are basing your opinion of this film's casting combinations from the past, you are not watching this film, and every Ricky Greenwood film, the incorrect way. Aiden is brought into the spotlight with an intense theatrical opening, and for the five hundredth time it seems, we see that this starlet can play a wide range of characters. Her tone and attitude is fierce as can be, all as the audience is left wondering what is going to go on in the dark with motorcycle stud Dante Colle and a full moon. The powerful flirtation leads the way, and that is so unlike any of Ricky’s past film ventures. The way this film opens, my God you will think you were at the drive-in movies. Movie magic at it’s best!

The Encounter: 

Sex on a motorcycle. It is porn-esque, with a story on the horizon. Let’s cut all the art talk for just a second, shall we? How and the fuck does Aiden Ashley do the things that she does? This woman is the indestructible porn star, and it is not just sex on top of a motorcycle that gives her such titles. Within the first thirteen minutes, there is five-star oral, squirting, and did I mention, SEX OFF THE SIDE OF A MOTORCYCLE! This is some of the most intense action I have ever seen within the walls of MissaX.com. How and the hell did that woman make this scene that fucking sexy, with half of her booty hanging off the motorcycle. She is a porn superstar! That is the easiest way to explain. Ricky Greenwood fucks with his audience and I don’t know if he did it on purpose, but there are moments of such powerful climax within Aiden, then the camera pulls back to something sinister watching, and it is spooky and so emotionally draining. Porn fans who enjoy a tease and thrill with forced stoppage and control, you will enjoy this scene, and I mean immensely. The sex will have you holding on for dear life, just like Aiden does, clinging to that motorcycle with some of the most intense action that you will have ever seen! Every position and placement of the camera will be enjoyed by fans. This is two lovers looking to tear each other apart. Fitting for a film about werewolves. 

Sight, Sound, and Specs:

I must admit, this film is too dark, and I mean the lighting just does not show enough during the opening suspense and sex scene. I know that Mr. Greenwood was looking to bring some reality into the mix of two lovers looking to passionately get it on in the woods, but it does take away from things a tad. Especially when the sex is this freaking powerful and passionate. There are more than a few moments where the camera movements get mighty blurry, all with a few added inserts that I think we're unwanted in certain shots. Saying all that, this had to be such a hard scene to shoot. The unique story and great acting more than make up for what is missed. The actors in this film. My God there are some talented human beings in the porn world. Brooklyn and Tommy, they add so much with just a taste of what is to come.

Don Juan’s Bottom Line:

If you ever had a shadow of a doubt in your mind that Aiden Ashley is anything but one of the greatest porn stars of all time, look no further than chapter one of Blue Moon Rising. Her character is one of the coolest she has ever played. As unique a character as this great actor has ever created. You have never seen Aiden Ashley like this. The sex, my stars, it is mind blowing. Aiden Ashley, she is one of the all time greatest Girl/Girl performers, and she does something that no other star has, who went on to add Boy/Girl to her resume like she has over the past few years, has done. She has become a starlet who can mix in romance, passion, kink, and flavor. All with acting prowess out of this world. She is at a level with some of the other greats of this business. Stars like Nina Hartley, Marilyn Chambers and Ginger Lynn. You can not afford to miss a performance this good. This is New Wave Hookers good. Behind the Green Door, original and dark. To get a little vulgar, this porn star gets her brains fucked out to the point that she will fry yours with ecstasy. There are so few performers in the world who can do such a thing on camera. She has seat imprints, and oil residue on her ass, for Pete’s sake! That is a porn star giving her all to the fans. This is award worthy!

Now, when it comes to story finishing up an XXX production, one must speak of the power, or lack thereof with such a conclusion. Blue Moon Rising, I see inspiration from places where werewolves roam the London streets. Slasher flicks from the seventies, eighties. Complete with an original story that is creepy as hell, and chalked full of mystery. Brooklyn Gray is only in the opening chapter for a wee-bit, but we see that this woman has greatness in her future. David Lord will make your eyes bug out of your head with his spine tingling character. Tommy Pistol, he is that gunslinging actor who nails a bullseye with every bullet fired. This is one of Ricky Greenwood’s most powerful productions. Aside from the production mistakes, the film is a solid B and comes from acting and sex that will rip you to shreds. Mentally, you just do not see directors brave enough to attempt such things in this industry, and I applaud every party involved. Like last year’s A Killer on the Loose, you are drawn to see more by dark and passionate forces.  Recommended review and I can not wait to see part two, and neither will you.
