Extras: The extras started off with a slideshow and then added a 16:07 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. The antics by Tommy Pistol aside, there was a variety of comments made by the cast and crew, the “Rampage” loving Myers clearly enjoying himself in the process. There was also a 2:37 minute long look at the special effects from the movie, both split screen and side by side comparisons showing how minor differences have a big impact on the final product.

Audio/Video Quality: Pron was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by directors Lee Roy Myers and Sam Hain for Goodnight Media. As the company’s first movie, the pair of award winning directors both cranked it up a few notches over some of their past works to provide an entertaining but sexually heated parody, poking fun at the original mainstream flicks but also paying them tribute as a valid pornified effort too. The special effects were not as heavy handed as the originals, allowing the sex scenes to shine on their merits, and the CGI was suitable for a parody of this nature (especially considering the show was set in the early 80’s). The camera angles flattered the women and gave enough variety to stave off criticism other companies earn by the way they use too many close-ups, Myers and Hain both well known for how well they craft their sexual and dialogue scenes to fit the need of the show rather than whatever makes for an expedient shot. The visual elements were distinctive and this was a nice change of pace over the generic parodies that have swept the marketing landscape over recent years, both directors able to improve on the majority of genre releases thanks in part to the small touches they add. The video bitrate tended to hover around the 4.4 Mbps bitrate when spot checked but ultimately, fans of either “Tron” release will probably appreciate this effort far more than average on many levels, the technical aspects certainly fitting for a tribute such as this. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English offering with the usual 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps aural bitrate. There was a nice balance between the musical score by Hype Jones, the vocals, and the special effects too, some separation noted and the dynamic range as claustrophobic as the originals to give the movie a similar “feel” in a manner that very few features tend to do. Such efforts require a lot of work for relatively little praise so it is nice to see the company expanding on areas that the big boys of porn so frequently fail at, even those that tout their technological prowess so often.

Body of Review: Lee Roy Myers and Sam Hain are two of the most popular parody directors out there at this writing, each winning numerous awards such as best movie or best director here at Xcritic and elsewhere. The two paired up to tackle what could have been the “Avatar XXX” boondoggle of the year in their first release together, a movie called Pron The XXX Parody, but a devotion to going the extra mile made it instead a very appealing pornification of the original two mainstream movies. When researching the movie, I found that the company was started by Myers, Hain, and the infamous Popporn duo of Bangs & Buckton, this quartet of talent surely about to show their former employers how to “get it right” given their near dominance of the market for quality fuck flicks. Rather than rely on marketing alone, each of the above simply put more effort into their flicks, the ratings at Xcritic showing the results over and over.

As far as the movie itself is concerned, it was a solid first company effort, showing the kind of care few others care to offer and a great many touches to make the transformation of the original concept complete, ultimately showing that as difficult a movie to pornify as “Tron” could only be done by this select group without a bunch of suits dictating lots of silly rules to water down the final product. While not a strict copy of the original with sex thrown in, the porno includes a variety of nods along the way, including some of the geek humor only fans (like myself) will appreciate, a superior approach to making it on a dime and tossing in everything to appease a wider audience as others seem so willing to do. The box cover stated it like this: “In this visually-stunning sexy spoof of the cult classic, Tron, and its modern high-tech sequel, the real world collides with the Grid, and it's a tech-geek's wet dream! In short, Pron The XXX Parody was a great balance of the original elements from the first movie parodied, the need for passionate sex, and the humor the directing duo are known for, culminating in one of the best first company releases in memory so give it a look.
