Audio/Video Quality: Heavy Metal 7 was presented in anamorphic widescreen at 1.78:1 as shot by director Lexington Steele for Rosebud in this MPEG-2 encoded, 480p resolution, effort. The show appears to have been captured by a single fluidly moving camera (with all the tradeoffs associated with that choice) by Mario Rossi, the camera itself appearing to have less resolution, especially under lower lighting circumstances, but easy enough to handle during the throes of passion. The video bitrate varied substantially but when I spot checked it, the results showed to be in the 3.4 Mbps area a lot (sometimes higher, sometimes lower). The audio was presented in the standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 48 kHz sampling rate. The vocals were generally easily heard, Mario appearing to use the microphone attached to the camera and sticking close to them, sacrificing the medium and long shots to do so but the aural qualities of the voices were okay. There was no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was minimal, Lex feeling the need to make a lot of guiding comments throughout the scenes.

Interestingly enough, I was looking at the Xcritic pick list for titles to review the other day when I saw Rosebud reviving a popular series Lex had out years ago, in the form of Heavy Metal 7 where he took the helm. There have been no press releases coming across my desk regarding the specific reasons why Lex would shoot for another company as director but these are hard economic times and surprises are more likely in the future from what I'm told, this being the least of them. Lex pulls out all stops to offer up four scenes of anal depravity starring Flower Tucci, Tory Lane, Anita Blue, and a fond farewell to Claire Dames, each of them showing their own strengths. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Tory Lane, the curvy gal featured on the center of the front cover, was up first masturbating to a heavy beat in her trampy black & white lingerie while Lexington Steele jerked off on the couch. In short, Heavy Metal 7 showed the four ladies taking a massive amount of Lexington Steele in their asses, pushing their limits to the point that most of their peers will never do, that alone meriting some additional attention.
