Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color, the standard in porn for decades. The lighting was weaker than usual here, contributing to shadows, grain, video noise, and other visual problems that are infrequent in Red Light District movies but common elsewhere. I know it's difficult to light an orgy, especially a gonzo orgy, since the lighting would get in the way if the proper fill lighting were located all over the set, but I call them like I see them so don't expect the usual technical excellence here (and it wasn't bad, just a bit below average for the industry as a whole). The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 stereo English with virtually no channel separation or dynamic range, something I've grown used to in porn of late.

Body of Review: Orgies are groups of people having sex together in a large room. They are one of the more difficult things to capture on camera since the harsh lights of porn become distractive to the cast and alter the way the sex takes place. If you ever get a chance to participate in one of Kylie Ireland's home orgies, you'll know how different they are from one that is shot for the viewer on tape (Kylie's are much better). That said, Red Light District has offered a couple of orgies on DVD in the past and the latest is Epic Global Orgies. The movie consisted of two orgies, one in Los Angeles and the other in Prague, were groups of people had, what else, sex in front of the camera. Each contained the kind of hardcore sex you'd expect from RLD and the cameras tried to stay with each sub-group long enough to keep you watching. With the current AIDS scare in the porn industry, don't expect too many more of these to take place since the risk factor jumps dramatically as partners are added. In any case, here's a quick look at the two orgies and some closing thoughts at the end:

Scene One: LA Orgy: The first orgy started off with David interviewing Sabrina outside the house. He followed her up some stairs, getting some nice shots of her ass and breasts as well as her pussy. Sean came up behind her and started groping her as they listened to the orgy going on behind them. She gave him a quick hummer before trying to ride his penis and then David left the couple in order to capture the antics of the orgy itself. When he arrived, he saw the rest of the LA Orgy cast, including Monique, Jackie, Brittany, Victoria, Leyla, Mike, Manuel, Steve, Darren, and Sledge already under way screwing, sucking and playing with one another. I could detail every single action like a virtual screenplay but suffice it to say, I think I saw just about every circus act type of sex I've ever seen in a Red Light District movie take place here. Be it something as simple as a double penetration, ass to mouth, or double anal, the sex was as varied as the cast. Monique was wise enough to go onto the balcony to take a breather with Mike but even then, the sex took precedence over all else.

Scene Two: Prague Orgy: This one started off with David talking to Sean as they entered a large building for the orgy overseas. Marc and Sean immediately went to work on Sara and Viktorie (the two lead blondes on the front DVD cover. After some oral attention by the gals, they were ready to bone away like bandits. Then Claudio and Jessica joined in and before long, the entire cast was there boning away: Jessica, Julie, Tera, Sara, Janet, Viktorie, Sean, David, Claudio, Marc, Robert, and Zenza. All your favorite circus act sex was included for your viewing pleasure, just like above, with performance bonuses seemingly included to motivate the performers.

I'd like to be able to say that the European cast was qualitatively different, that there was something substantively better or more interesting than the domestic orgy but I really can't do that and remain honest. Both groups had oral, straight, anal, DP's, PTM, ATM, and other acts taking place. Both groups also displayed some sexual energy that would've killed me had I participated and each had plenty of enthusiasm. There were some minor variations in roughness and some differences in how the participants communicated with one another (the foreign bunch seemed to act more over the top, as if to convey through body language or loudness what the domestic cast could do with their minimal speech), but those differences were difficult to distinguish. Much like an ultra hardcore version of one of the Wicked Pictures Orgies but without the condoms and with more extreme sex acts taking place, Epic Global Orgies provided exactly what you'd expect and didn't limit itself to the usual 15 to 30 minute scene. Both scenes lasted over an hour and while I would have appreciated more chapter stops in order to pick up the action where I left off at a given time, there were no problems with continuity.

Summary: Epic Global Orgies is the kind of DVD that will appeal to the raincoater and fan of hardcore, gonzo sex without a lot of plot or acting, relying instead on the sex to get you off. I'm going to rate it as Recommended for the casual fan of such action although the cast was pretty solid, the action nearly as good as the usual Red Light District release, and the technical values a bit higher than most companies but not up to snuff for RLD compared to what they offer in their various series. The technical stuff aside, the sex was pretty solid so if you're looking for a mass of flesh doing one another, this is a good place to start.
