I also liked the scenarios and the locations in which they were shot. I'm so fucking tired of "couch sex" that I rejoice when I see people having sex in dingy alleys, restaurants, and plush bedrooms. And, the scene set-ups are a hell of a lot more interesting than those in most porn movies. By way of example, Lanny Barby and John Strong play Russians...she's an interrogator and he's a prisoner. Believe it or not, they actually speak Russian (I have no idea how well they speak it, however!). In any case, kudos for some refreshingly different scenarios in locations other than the same living room that's featured in half of the movies on the market.

Even though I enjoyed the scenarios and the sex in Pay or Play, I must admit that I didn't care for the video. It appears to me that harsh spotlights were used to light the sets instead of flattering diffused light. This caused the performers' flesh to be too light, too contrasty, too dark, or the wrong color (people should never be orange or yellow!). Of particular note is how the harsh lighting diminishes the beauty of the girls. For example, stunningly gorgeous Sunrise looks like her skin is translucent and her veins are ready to pop out! Of course, I know that Sunrise is a very beautiful woman. Why screw up the lighting so that she doesn't appear pretty?

I also found the jerky camera motions annoying.

I suppose that this type of lighting has its place in so-called "alt" movies. However, Pay or Play doesn't appear to be of that genre.
