Extras: The best related extra for me was the 20:53 minute Behind the Scenes feature by Fraulein Fist. It showed the cast and crew at work, additional sex material, and some humor (often dark humor), and was enjoyable if mostly fluff. There was also a full length, 29:33 minute bonus scene from Sex Addict as described in detail below, Penny Flame and Sunrise Adams joined by Mike Striker for a medical room examination. There was also a photogallery and some trailers, the spam at the beginning of the show easy to skip through.

Audio/Video Quality: Dreams of Sunrise was presented in a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color offering as shot by director Eli Cross for Vivid Entertainment for this standard definition presentation using 480i resolution and the MPEG-2 codec. The video bitrate hovered around the 3.2 Mbps mark whenever I spot checked it, a nod to some of the more artistic movies the director has made, though admittedly within the constraints imposed upon him by the company. The lighting allowed the cameras to pick up all the action in most cases and the fleshtones were accurate (occasionally saturated) with few compression artifacts observed here. Unlike Eli's last three big blockbuster titles that garnered so much praise, this low budget showcase piece lacked a lot of pizzazz and seemed to be a "by the numbers" movie by the director. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio track sported an audio bitrate of 256 Kbps and a 48 kHz sampling rate, the music showing some separation between the channels but not the vocals or other aural effects. Some of the vocals were hollow and I swear I heard a few background noises at times from the crew, but in all it amounted to a very generic aural experience for me, like most porn shoots for these days.

Body of Review: Eli Cross is a multi-award winning director whose travels brought him all around the porn world when he worked so high up at AVN, but he has also worked on projects for a variety of others, including Vivid Entertainment. While most people are aware of his big budget features dealing with corruption and science fiction future dramas, he is also responsible for numerous smaller dramas (that help pay the bills) and tidbits like Dreams of Sunrise. The movie is a showcase effort starring Sunrise Adams, a former contract performer with enchanting eyes and a lineage in porn like few others. She performed in three of the five scenes here and for fans, that makes this one a "must have" based on that alone. The back cover described the show like this: "Sunrise is back and she's all ours...and all yours. Master lensman Eli Cross takes her through an ultra-stylized psychedelic romp through filth and fantasy, nightmares and nocturnal emissions. Along the way, Kylie stops by for an amazing three-way anal scene, topped only by the full-on facial at the culmination of Sunrise's ball-bursting boy/boy/girl. It's all hot and no plot...just the way you like it. And it's all about Sunrise...ass up, legs spread and gorgeous...just the way you like it." Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Mika Tan, wearing red, black, and white bikini underwear, was up first on a white couch with the Mighty Evan Stone, their hands all over each other as he choked her and felt her up. The camera bounced around as he went down on her, his finger in her slit while his tongue worked her clit for a moment. That led to her titty fucking him and blowing the guy, the two soon actively riding vaginally in a few positions with limited taste testing. Scene Two: Sunrise Adams, the attractive blond featured on the top of the front cover, was up next as she wondered why Tommy Gunn was so distant to her, asking why they couldn't talk. Instead, he pawed her on the white couch, her black lingerie offering scant resistance to his efforts, the man removing it to get oral with her (which led to her providing a short, mechanical hummer). The two then resorted to some vaginal boning that used a condom, Sunrise pushing back to meet his thrusts but only shortly before the titty pop ended the scene all too quickly.

Scene Three: Sunrise Adams, this time in bed wearing a black and neon pink bikini outfit, took on muscular Chris Cannon until Mike Striker joined to make it a threesome. Chris ate her to generic music and the overly obvious camerawork soon showed Mike's small (and limp) pecker placed in her hand. She blew a less-than-responsive Mike while Chris continued going down on her in the shaded bed, the gal alternating between the two of them when a quick edit popped her to her knees. There was then a little vaginal plowing but not nearly a complete scene's worth before she milked their population pudding to her face.

Scene Four: Sunrise Adams, up in a weird third (in a row) scene on the white couch with Sammie Rhodes, tried to show that maybe her lesbian antics would work better than the sex she had just participated in. She wore a sheer pink bikini outfit while Sammie wore a white version, their dirty talk on the generic side as they took turns going down on each other. There was a small flesh colored dildo at work here too though the use of hands seemed more natural, the levels of chemistry better then what came before but still far too staged for my tastes as they squirmed about to the single camera shoot.

Scene Five: Kylie Ireland, in a black fetish PVC skirt styled dress, and Moxxie Maddron, wearing a similar outfit, were up last with Mark Davis. They took turns going down on each other and seemed to have some fun, Kylie and Mark working over Moxxie on a platform before the vaginal sex began. Moxxie also sucked on his cock at the direction of Kylie when they were in a 69, the ladies sharing his cock for active riding until he pounded Kylie's ass (with Moxxie doing some ATM taste testing). Kylie then stuffed four fingers in Moxxie while Mark tore into Moxxie's ass, the ladies soon licking his spew off one another before the confused ending montage took place.

Bonus Scene: Sex Addict: Penny Flame, playing a medical assistant, and patient Sunrise Adams (the featured hotty on the front cover), were up next in the examination room with doctor Mike Striker. His exam checked her out quite thoroughly, the nymphomaniac enjoying his attention as he probed her labia (though I would have liked to see her in stirrups even more). Moments after fingering her, he was eating at the Y and the trio was all getting undressed, Penny joining in on the fun when the procedure went from the standard exam to the more thorough one. Penny was first to ride the cock and I was surprised to see a condom employed here but she was aggressively impaling herself on the pole while Sunrise felt her up. Penny asked for them to be rough with her, elevating the heat of the scene substantially until it was Sunrise's turn at bat. She was not as rhythmic as Penny but managed to do a lot better than she had in some of her past scenes, grinding her hips into the guy while sitting on top of his lap on the examination table. Penny assisted the wet gal and the gals alternated in some more riding (with PTM) before he rubbed out a load to Penny's face and open mouth. I liked this scene more than the last but it also appeared to have some rough edges left in on purpose towards the ending that showed the cumswap and Sunrise swallowing. Yum!

Summary: Dreams of Sunrise by director Eli Cross for Vivid Entertainment was not much of a "psychedelic trip" as advertised on the front cover but the sex, as uneven as it was, seemed definitely worth a look or two so I rated this one as a Rent It. In short, Dreams of Sunrise was like so many featured showcases of the past that relied heavily on the lead performer and her appeal to fans so unless you are one of them, this will be unlikely to convert you to her cause.
