Audio/Video Quality: Video is shot in 4k, using natural sunlight only. Presented in an anamorphic widescreen format. Audio has a serious flaw which I will discuss in my final thoughts. The menus are interactive but take quite awhile to load they don't just pop up.

Overview: Kayden Kross and TRENCHCOATx present four scenes that are centered around a common theme; natural sunlight and lazy days in bed. This is their debut DVD which is compiled from four scenes that were originally shot for their website as a series. Two scenes feature XRCO and AVN Hall-of-Famer, Manuel Ferrara. The first scene features last year's XBIZ Foreign Female Performer of the Year, Valentina Nappi. The other scenes are populated with multi-award nominated (or winners) performers and newcomer Jay Savage round out the cast. This marks TRENCHCOATx's debut into an elite genre: high-end adult filmmaking! It is couples-aimed adult film making that is definitely worth a look.

Scene 1: Valentina Nappi, Jay Savage

We find Jay and Valentina lazing around the bedroom on a sunny morning. When Miss Nappi mentions she's cold Jay invited her into bed to warm up with him as a soundtrack strums. The track fades as Valentina removes her tee to reveal her beautiful C-cups. She explores her man's torso with her tongue and then pulls down his briefs to take his manhood into her mouth as hazy sunlight fills the frame. Now, normally that would drive me nuts but I've read Kayden's XCritic blog about this series at the time she wrote it, so I already knew there was a specific artistic goal in mind and this achieves that goal spectacularly. After a soft, oral warmup, Valentina rubs her cotton pantied crotch against her man. The panties are a fitting choice for a lazy afternoon because contrary to "porn rules" not all girls wear $30 lacy getups at all times. Once her panties slide off she moves up to straddle Jay's face.

Jay's bearded face licks softly on Valentina's trimmed bush and then he starts to make love to her. After some standard lovemaking positions, she cleans off his shaft, asking him if he knows what mornings are perfect for and silently offers her ass which he slides into easily. Scene 2: Eva Lovia, Manuel Ferrara

Our guitar track is back for scene two which visually illustrates the passage of time and the different moods that every couple experiences. There's plenty of artsy lens flares captured along with some well-portrayed emotions. Some of those emotions are playful, others are romantic but the story centers around two key ones: anger and regret. That leads us to the makeup sex as the soundtrack ends. Manuel removes Eva's shorts and buries his face between her legs, gripping her globes tightly before pulling off his own jeans for a jerk and slurp from his lover. The pair share some kisses gaze locked onto one another as Eva mounts her man for a little bump and grind before going back to a furious hand-aided hummer. Climbing back on, they exchange whispers as their passion grows.

The intensity of their makeup sex comes across well as they explore each other in one position after another. Manuel grips her throat as he slams her in spoon, Eva moaning, groaning, and shrieking briefly as he bangs away while rubbing her clit with his free hand. The camera man chooses to get close or back away from the action by literally doing those things. It's a bit non-fluid but everything is kept in the frame during the motion. With Manuel hammering away at her in missionary, Eva manages to have an intense orgasm which they follow up with some doggie drilling while kneeling bedside. Eva takes Manuels deep into her throat and he follows up with some good hard thrusts in doggie before finishing on his lover's face and then finishing her off with his fingers.

Scene 3: Ana Foxxx, Elsa Jean, Sean Michaels

Sean and Ana are kicking it in bed and she's telling him about this petite girl that caught her eye earlier in the day. The tale gets interspersed with footage of Elsa against a sky blue background as the couple expound on the concept of this "fantasy girl" that caught Ana's eye. Full Disclosure: Before we get to my final thoughts, I have to mention that Kayden Kross is a regular contributor here at XCritic. WIth that said, she's fully aware that we are here to give honest opinions and criticism and yet she was brave enough to make sure we got our hands on her debut DVD.

Final Thoughts: It's visually striking. There's no pussy-footing around. Kayden and company didn't dip their toes in the water, they decided to take the bull by the horns while jumping into the deep part of the ocean where the big sharks swim. (Yeah, I'm pretty proud of inventing that mixed metaphor on-the-fly.)

Unlike some of those big sharks that control the waters of high-end production value porn (you know who they are), Kayden went a slightly different route. There's no fancy studio lighting trying to balance the sunlight coming into a room, she went au naturel! That, coupled with what I believe to be some post-processing wizardry, allow certain portions of the film to achieve a hazy, glowing look. The other fork in the road that she chose involves each story being filmed in a separate manner, in a separate location. It's not four scenes on the same white couch in the same white room.

Here's the rub that irked me throughout the disc though. This is high-end, couples porn. No doubt about that. It's poised at the upper end of pricing for that genre and if you are going to do that, you can't make rookie mistakes. What's the mistake, you ask? Put some headphones on, or watch your VU meters and it will be readily apparent. Someone muted the entire right channel during final mix-down! The trailers and logos all come through in crisp, clear stereo...the scenes...nope! It isn't a panning or balance issue - I tried solving it with those types of tools to no avail. In my book, that's a huge check mark in the CON column. Now, I realize I'm in the minority of the porn viewing public when it comes to that so I'm going to weight the beautiful visuals higher. The camera work is good, although there are some very minor flubs like bobbing during closeups moves and handling noise nobody will notice but me. The performances are all on point and the lovemaking seems genuine. Overall, it's a great debut that couples will enjoy and I look forward to more material from the studio! Highly Recommended, unless you're an audio freak like me and then weight that down a notch.
