Synopsis

Kaylani Lei plays an insecure woman who has had more than her share of tough luck in life, including the misfortune of having a former fiancé (Rocco Reed) who cheated on her with a hooker (Jenny Hendrix). After summarily dumping Rocco, Kaylani and her friends, including Tori Black, Voodoo, and Barrett Blade, head out on a cross-desert road trip in their vintage VW bus so that they can attend the "Black Rock Festival," a weekend of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll.

Kaylani and her friends have no idea of the dangers they're about to face. You see, the "Black Rock Festival" is "hosted" by a band of vampires who lure young people into the desert for the sole purpose of providing lots of fresh and delicious blood to satisfy their never-ending demand for liquid nourishment. Who are these insatiable un-dead? They're mostly super-hot (can a vampire even be hot?) females including scrumptious Latina Mikayla Mendez and luscious Sophia Santi (who both do very nice jobs playing their respective roles).

As the plot unfolds, Kaylani is "visited" by the undead in dreams that give her glimpses of what's to come. But, she dismisses these prophesies. In addition, during an evening stopover in a nearly deserted ghost town, the vampires show themselves at, no less, a strip club...the town's only source of food and entertainment! But, Kaylani and her friends are oblivious to the danger. And, Kaylani and her friends unknowingly give a ride to stranded vampire hunters Derrick Pierce and Stormy Daniels. Nonetheless, Kaylani and friends blindly stumble into near death when they finally arrive at the Festival. Kaylani survives...but most of her friends perish in a vampire feeding frenzy.

From the perspective of a Halloween-appropriate fright film, The Wicked is a good pick. I enjoyed how well the speaking roles were portrayed by the adult actors and actresses...who says a porn chick can't act? In addition, the plot is interesting and nicely unfolds within the movie's hour and forty-six minute running time. I also heartily applaud the production values brought to the screen by highly acclaimed director Michael Raven. In particular, numerous on-location desert sets were effectively used during production. I also found the wardrobe, make-up, and hairstyles to be very appropriate and well suited to the role each performer played. The special effects are also well executed. And, the 5.1 Dolby Digital sound is first-rate and can be played in three variations including music-only, sex-only, and a combination soundtrack that merges music and sex (the musical soundtrack is very effective). All-in-all, The Wicked is a very watchable movie.

But, I'm sad to report that The Wicked is not a very good sex movie. Most of the seven scenes are just too short! For example, Scene One lasts less than two minutes. That makes "wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am" sound fulfilling. Other scenes are five-six minutes. In fact, only two scenes are actually long enough for any heat to develop (Scene 6 with superb Tori Black and Voodoo [13 minutes], and Scene 7 with headliners Kaylani Lei and Barrett Blade [12 minutes]). In addition, the sex scenes are not only short but they're also extremely mild...even too mild, I think, for couples-friendly releases. In fact, only two of the girls seemed to have had orgasms during their scenes! Since the sex is so unfulfilling, I sadly advise you to skip this movie.

Disc Two contains what are supposed to be "extended sex scenes..." one featuring Stormy Daniels and Derrick Pierce and the other featuring Jenny Hendriz and Rocco Reed. I watched these "extended scenes" hoping for a more complete sexual adventure. Didn't happen...they're only a couple of minutes longer than the too-short scenes embedded in the feature.

Bottom line...I greatly admire director Michael Raven and deeply appreciate the time, effort, expertise, professionalism, and, yes, money that went into creating The Wicked. Even so, I think that the movie falls flat on its face as an adult movie.

Final Thoughts

The best things about The Wicked include:

• the production values. Everything about The Wicked screams out "professional" and "main stream." The locations, in the California desert, are especially appropriate and include wide-open fields, tumble-down shacks, and ramshackle motels. The special effects, wardrobe (especially the vampire chicks' and Stormy Daniel's outfits), makeup, cinematography, lighting, and camerawork are all first class. And, the musical score is excellent.
• the acting. Who said porn chicks can't act? Stormy does a superb job as a vampire hunter, Kaylani plays her insecure-girl role to a tee, and even newcummer Tori Black performs notably as an inebriated party girl.
• Kaylani's and Tori Black's sexual performances. Even though these two girls' scenes are too short, each proves herself to be a first-class sexual performer.
• Sophia Santi and Mikayla Mendez. Wait until you see these girls play sexy vampires! So hot...yet so cold!
• the extras (see "DVD Perspectives" below).

The Wicked could have been better if:

• there was more of an emphasis on female pleasure. There are seven scenes in this movie and only two of the girls climax.

Things I didn't like about The Wicked include:
