Audio/Video Quality: Whale Tail 6 was presented in widescreen color as shot by director Jim Powers for Smash Pictures. The lighting was solid and the camera angles were basic enough, the camera fluidly moving as the footage was shot. The editing by Hollywood Max did not have a lot of abrupt cuts and the end result was quite pleasant. The aural qualities were no different, the vocals easy to hear and the music limited to very specific portions of the release (during the credits and opening of each scene), a few ambient sounds from the background heard but nothing overly distracting.

Body of Review: Jim Powers is one of the most renowned directors in porn, his work for Smash Pictures generating substantial press in recent years. His latest title coming in for review is called Whale Tail 6, this being the latest of a favored series for me (despite only seeing a couple volumes, the premise alone works for me on multiple levels). The idea of a “whale tail” relates to how a thong showing above other articles of clothing gives a certain look, my preference for ladies with larger asses displaying the trait important to note. My favorite performer of the cast here was easily Skin Diamond but each of the others was youthful, attractive, and generally new to porn (as noted below, Lia Lor was the only one with over a dozen DVD credits to her name at this writing). The back cover described the movie like this: “You see it walk by. That hot ass in the low cut tight jeans. And riding up, just waiting to be plucked, are the strings of the thong she's wearing. You want to just walk right up and grab what she's advertising because that's a tell-tale sign of "come fuck me I look hot." Also known as the "whale tail," it's a look that is causing a storm. Scene One: Lia Lor, the sexy little blond Texan seen on the lower left corner of the front cover, was up first as she posed outside for Alex Gonz, her face reminding me of a younger sister of Alexis Texas when seen close up. She has 17 credited scenes at this writing and is still developing her own style, her skinny body lacking as much booty as I desire in such a titled flick but fans of all natural newcomers will surely enjoy her this time. The music was generic as she went through the paces, her jeans lowered and ass cheeks spread with her thong pulled up her neatly trimmed snatch on the sunny day in the hills. As with the other scenes, those who do not appreciate the tease can simply play the wall to wall version but that would be silly given the specialty niche this movie was designed for to begin with. Scene Three: Mia Malkova, the perky blond hotty featured on the front cover, was up next with Tony Martinez in what appears to be her 2nd credited scene on DVD per the IAFD. She is credited with 7 scenes at this writing but none have been reviewed, her potential very high given her manner displayed here. Once the tease was over, and it was separate from the rest of the vignette unlike the other scenes, she was seen enjoying some horses, the scene having some very amusing BTS footage (go to the extras for that), as she showed Mark her whale tail. Mark took her up on her offer to play with her ass, her jeans dropped down to exaggerate her ass cleavage for him to orally enjoy before she gave him the slightest bit of head in return. Summary: Whale Tail 6 by director Jim Powers for Smash Pictures very good at providing a basic, strokable porn experience where newcomers showed off their thongs before engaging sexually with a male partner, the ladies tending to be on the lean side which cut into the replay value for me in several cases. Still, the technical values of the single camera shoot were decent enough, some scenes providing a lot of outdoor looks at the ladies, and each had a thong in full view for the tail appearance advertised so I rated the movie as a healthy Recommended with the expectation that fans of specific ladies will adjust their own ratings accordingly. In short, Whale Tail 6 proved that Smash Pictures is not limited to parodies or generic gonzo fodder, director Jim Powers picking up the gauntlet of his peers who previously directed volumes of the show to cater to a niche audience very nicely so give this one a look.
