Audio/Video Quality: Jack's POV 12 (Blu-ray) was presented in 1.78:1 widescreen color as shot by director Robby D. for Digital Playground using the AVC codec in the high definition release (even a full 1080p resolution). The lighting was reasonably solid here, as expected given this was Robby's standard type of gonzo, and that meant that the limited amounts of grain and other visual elements used to lend a sense of texture were minimal. The lighting was basic but enough to allow Robby to showcase the ladies fairly well, some C-light added in would have made it better but otherwise the enhanced resolution appearing to give the production an extra nudge for fans. The way the scenes were shot and edited was similar in the scenes, using the POV (point of view) approach as suggested by the title and the ladies all capable of pulling the "sex with a cameraman" trick off even though "Jack" was not getting any. The production team was led by Robby with T. Baggs working the editing board this time, the end result looking enough like previous efforts that I wonder aloud if this isn't another name for an already existing member of the usual crew. The DVD mastering showed no obvious compression artifacts (the bitrate varying but often staying around the 18.4 Mbps range when I paid attention) but this was not his clearest effort to date. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English (using 448 Kbps as the audio bitrate and 48 kHz as the sampling rate) with a minimalist leaning that seemed unique in most ways to productions outside of the other Jack series, with the vocals always dominating the audio track as I like it. While there wasn't much separation between the channels, if any, the ladies were almost always clearly heard and their moans added to the enjoyment of the show. The standard definition version of the movie had the audio at 5.1 Dolby Digital, 384 Kbps, and the 48 kHz sampling rate while the picture itself was in 480i resolution, hovering around the 5.6 Mbps video bitrate, and was in anamorphic widescreen with some minor issues resolved by the higher definition product as described above.

Body of Review: Robby D. and Digital Playground are currently responsible for the lion's share of high definition Blu-ray titles available on the porn market, the idea that someone had to boldly open up the floodgates lost on a few of the lesser companies that have yet to embrace the clarity of such works. While sales of Blu-ray players and Playstation 3's will continue to grow this holiday season (led by price cuts and the desire of people to have the best looking movies for bragging rights), there are some industry analysts that appreciate all the company has done to make it happen, the profitability of the format likely to increase with time. Coming out just recently was another such title for fans to appreciate, one called Jack's POV 12 (Blu-ray) where the point of view craze continued in the series praised as being way ahead of the curve when it came to quality; allowing the fans at home to fantasize that they were the men drilling babes like Shyla Stylez, Alexis Silver, Kiki Vidis, Madison Ivy, and yes, even lovely little Teagan Presley. In short, Jack's POV 12 (Blu-ray) was a title I had initially missed out on due to a shipping tragedy (my advance screener disc was broken in two places) but whether you seek the value version in SD or the enhanced experience of the Blu-ray, do yourself a favor and get a copy.
