The Movie:

This plot based adult feature comes from Pulpo, one of the newer studios on the scene. While the title Dolores Of My Heart is kind of goofy and a little awkward, once you get past that you'll realize that director Andres Tabogo has gone the extra mile and crafted a reasonably interesting XXX whodunit.

When the film begins, a stand up comedian named Eddie Vega (Chris Cannon) is brought in for questioning by a police detective played by Jack Lawrence. It seems that Eddie's wife, a sexy dancer named Dolores (Shy Love), was found murdered and he's the primes suspect in the case. As Eddie sits down and talks to the cops, his story unfolds through a series of flashbacks. It seems that his wife was cheating on him and that Eddie took it upon himself to investigate her extra curricular activities taking place in a seedy hotel room. He did now, however, murder his wife... or so he says. As the story unfolds the pieces of the puzzle start to fit together and eventually the cops get the answer they're looking for, even if it isn't exactly what they expected.

Scene 1 - Shy Love And Lorena Sanchez: The girls stand in front of their boyfriends and decide to give them a show. They start kissing then head to bed and undress. They suck on each others' tits and then go down on one another from a few different positions. They use their fingers and their tongues until they've both reached a climax. A nice intro, this steamy girl-girl scene definitely starts things off with a bang. Both of the ladies look great and the sex is hot.

Scene 2 - Mikayla: In Eddie's dressing room, Mikayla gives him a show. She takes off her top and takes down her shorts and fingers herself with her tits out. Once she's had two fingers in there for a root, she gets down on all fours and uses a red dildo on herself. If solo action is your thing and you don't mind a blaring techno soundtrack then this scene should set your pants a tinglin' as Mikayla looks to be really enjoying herself here.

Scene 3 - Shy Love And Alan Stafford: This scene begins with Shy sucking Alan's dick as he lies on his back. Scene 4 - Penny Flame, Audrey Bitoni, Van Damage: The girls decide to give the guys a show. They start making out and sucking their tits before they spread their legs and eat each other out on the chair in the lounge. They move into a sixty-nine and then really start going at it, using fingers and tongues and looking hot in vinyl boots. Van decides to get in on the fun and Penny gives him head. The girls take turns sucking him off and then move back into a sixty-nine so he can fuck them from behind. They take turns riding him from a few of the usual positions (doggy, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl) and sitting on his face until he gets off. The girl-girl action here is hot and while it's not as steamy once Van moves in, there is some good chemistry between the three in this scene.

Scene 5 - Daisy And Justice Young: Daisy gets on all fours after some brief foreplay so that Justice can fuck her doggy style. He gets on his back and she rides him reverse cowgirl, then they move onto their sides and go at it spooning. He fucks her missionary style and then eats her out, before fucking her missionary style again and pulling out and shooting onto her chest. Daisy looks good in the hot pink fishnets but this scene is fairly dark and looks to use natural lighting. Those hoping to see everything look shiny and pink in extreme close up will probably take issue with that but in the context of the story it works.

Scene 6 - Mikayla And Jack Lawrence: Mikayla shows up to surprise Jack. They kiss and she drops to her knees and gives him head. He gets on all fours and eats her out from behind (she looks nice in the stockings and garters). She lies down and he bones her missionary style on the desk, breaking to lick her now and then. She sits on his face and they move into a sixty-nine, then he fucks her missionary style again before pulling out and shooting onto her tits. This is the hottest scene on the disc. These two go at it like they really mean it and the scene is all the better for it.

Scene 7 - Mystery Scene: Without naming names (for fear of spoiling the ending), he and she go at it by making out and then falling to the bed where she sucks his dick. He eats her pussy, fingers her, and then does her missionary style. They go at it cowgirl, then reverse cowgirl, and then doggy style and then he pulls out and shoots his load on the top of her ass. This is another solid scene with some real heat and nice chemistry going on.

This is one of those rare adult movies where the sex scenes actually make sense. They happen for a reason and actually further the plot, rather than the other way around. There's a genuinely decent story here in amongst the hardcore fuck footage and director Andres Tabogo shoots the whole thing with style and class. There's enough here that the movie is definitely sexy and completely pornographic, but the production values and care put into the cinematography, lighting, soundtrack and even the acting all speak highly of the movie's quality. The film is not without it's flaws - by porno standards the acting here is good but in real life that equates to mediocrity - but it's nice to see a company taking their time to create interesting adult films rather than simply latching on to the gonzo craze of the hour.

The DVD

Video:

The anamorphic widescreen transfer has a problem in that it squeezes the picture within the anamorphic frame. You'll have to tinker with your display settings if you want the aspect ratio to appear correct on a 16x9 set, which is quite unfortunate. Aside from that framing mistake, the transfer is good. No compression artifacts or print damage and only some very fleeting instances of edge enhancement appear. Skin tones and colors look dead on and detail is strong throughout. It's a shame about the aspect ratio, though...

Sound: 

The 5.1 Surround Sound is pretty solid. While it's primarily the score that's spread to the rear channels, it sounds active and vibrant. The dialogue is nice and clear and the levels are all well balanced and appropriately set. Bass response is good if not quite great even if it could have been stronger in a couple of scenes. Overall, this is definitely better than average.

Extras: 

The first disc in this two disc set is barebones except for some slick menus and chapter selection options.

The second disc has a few different supplements starting off with Making Of Dolores (10:08), a behind the scenes featurette that contains some on set footage and a few impromptu interviews with a few of the cast and crewmembers. There's also some interesting sex scene footage in here.

Up next is an Alternate Ending (2:47) that puts a very different slant on the final sex scene. Two Deleted Scenes are also included, the first of which is a longer take on the solo masturbation scene (10:00) and the second of which is an alternate take on Dolores' murder (0:51).

Final Thoughts:

An interesting and sincerely sexy thriller, Dolores Of My Heart has a wonky transfer but is otherwise quite a strong release. The sex is hot and the girls are beautiful but more surprisingly the story is honestly engaging and interesting. Recommended.
