The Movie:

Jack The Zipper's latest for Club Jenna is a pretty bizarre movie. It's basically a XXX carnival exhibition, and though it's got freakshow style staging and lighting, there isn't much of that type of behavior here on display... except if you'll pardon the pun, some sword swallowing. That said, the girls he's assembled here are amazing. Each one is stunningly beautiful and quite skilled at what they do. Put them in front of Jack's leering camera, all dressed up and evocatively lit? I'm there. The movie has no plot, and it cuts around from scene to scene as his movies so often do, but don't let that stop you from checking it out if this sounds like your cup of tea. Be forewarned, like a lot of his picture, it cuts from color to black and white, it's got faux film grain Final Cut Pro effects layered over top of it and it will periodically speed up and slow down for dramatic effect. As such, it's artsy and even pretentious, but holy shit, it's good. Really good.

Scene 1 - The Grindshow: As a barrage of surrealist sights and sounds open up the movie, we see a girl (Zoe Minx) gyrate in front of a screen where hardcore porn is being projected. This shot on video production looks pretty clean presented here in a reasonably stable 1.78.1 anamorphic widescreen presentation though it does need to be said that some intentional post production degradation has been done to the image to make it look dirty in spots, especially during the black and white bits. There is some mild edge enhancement in a couple of spots and a noticeable bit of mpeg compression evident in some of the darker colors and the blacks but these aren't a big deal. Skin tones look nice and natural, the compositions are dead on, and aside from the fact that this digital video production looks like a digital video production and as such suffers from the minor defects usually associated with the format and the aforementioned 'jaggies' (which only affect some scenes) the movie looks alright.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track is quite sufficient. The dialogue comes through cleanly and clearly as do all of the moans and groans. The soundtrack is mixed in properly at a respectable level most of them time but there are a few spots where the music is definitely louder than it needed to be and as such it slightly overshadows the speaking parts when they do occur. Bass response is nice and lively and overall, for a porno movie, this is a better than average effort.

Extras:

The only extra of much worth is a behind the scenes segment called Death Defying Acts(8:21) but it's a fairly brief piece that doesn't go too in-depth. What is here is good, however - it starts off with an interview with Sasha Grey before taking us behind the scenes and showing us how some of the bits were shot and blocked. There's a fair bit of extra hardcore content in here as well, including a ridiculously sexy shot where Rebecca Linares primes herself for getting it up the ass from James Deen.

Aside from that, there's some deleted footage (13:48 - each one of the girls masturbates here except for Sasha, who is nowhere to be seen), a trailer for the feature, a slideshow, and trailers for a few other Club Jenna alt porn releases. Animated menus and scene selection are also included.

Final Thoughts:

Enter The Peepshow is pretty interesting stuff if you dig what Zipper's been doing these last few years. It's artsy, strange, and inherently sexy and on top of that makes great use of a really strong cast. Those not into his style won't necessarily find it their bag, but fans of his work and of the more obscure side of the alt porn movement would do well to check it out. Club Jenna's disc looks and sounds quite good and offers a few decent extras on top of all that, making this one highly recommended.
