Extras: While many companies have moved to providing double disc sets when they offer extensive extras, X-Play has tried a different route, knowing the extra costs and logistic problems usually outweigh the additional space to place them. This means they often don't look as good but still give added value to the release. Such was the case here too, the first extra (all running times approximate), a 19:40 minute Behind the Scenes feature showing a lot of the cast preparing with their lines (as well as some sex). While that might be as much as many productions offer, there were four more parts to the BTS offered up too, #2 lasting 24:56 minutes, #3 lasting 27:09 minutes, the fourth devoted to the music soundtrack (one of the toughest things to "get right" and not be sued in sitcom work) clocking in at 12:12 minutes, the fifth one devoted to the director/producer travelogue at 24:39 minutes. If you are adding these times up, you may have noticed the extras are already longer than many porn comedies themselves, the added fuck for the buck a major consideration in replay value for me. The first three BTS' followed the production in linear fashion (footage credited to Big Richard Black, Will Ryder, and Nick Ventura) and there were thanks to several of the media outlets (Xcritic included a few times) but ultimately they all served as instruction manuals for other companies to follow should they seek to dethrone the champions of porn parodies, Scott David and Will Ryder. There was then a replay of the opening menu (the theme song), four trailers, a slide show, and even a bonus deleted scene starring Brynn Tyler masturbating with a large dildo on the couch. It wasn't polished like the post production scenes in the movie (you could hear the director at the beginning, the focus was slightly off, and the colors were a bit strong) but 4:20 minutes of extra solo work by the hotty was a nice capping touch to a fine selection of extras.

Audio/Video Quality: Not Three's Company XXXBlu-ray was presented in a widescreen color with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Will Ryder for X-Play (as distributed by Hustler Video) in the AVC codec (for the high definition version using 1080i resolution). The movie closely mimicked the design of the color years of the mainstream show nicely, not quite mirroring it but stylishly maintaining the parody angle. The "look" of the clothing, settings, and numerous props used to instill the feel of the times from the show worked so well thanks to the contribution of Art Director Scott David, the quieter partner at the company but just as important as the director for ensuring the movie look and "feel" like it should. Of particular note, the movie looked a bit yellow due to the way the sets were painted, the color tint issue raised by the director himself even if readily noticeable to the standard eye of the viewer. The camera angles flattered the ladies in almost all cases, the editing assisting in contemporizing the sexual scenes while allowing the plot points to cater to the way the television show looked (or at least how I remembered it looking when I watched it). On a technical level, the lighting was good but the bitrate hovered around the 12.4 Mbps area, making me long for an upgrade with better resolution and not hampered (however slightly) by the limits of what will fit on a single disc (especially given the balance between picture quality and space). Stuffing so much footage on a single Blu-ray disc does result in artifacts and grain; there was even some soft focus issues at times, though not too many. I would have liked the production to be placed on a double disc set and greater care applied with the DVD mastering to make it even better but the nuisance of the color issues aside, the camera angles looked very good and the editing was fine until the very last portion of the movie when it appeared somewhat rushed. The audio was presented in the standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 192 Kbps. The vocals were slightly hollow but the strength of the audio track was again with the music, thanks to Jeff, Serge Mancandy, Lotta Zeros, and Rock Hardson. There was a laugh track for those that care but in some ways, this was an upgrade from previous sitcum outings, like the storyline, the dynamic duo raising the bar in ways their competitors just won't even try.

Body of Review: Over 30 years ago, a situation comedy came out of nowhere to become one of the most popular such shows of all time. The name of the show was "Three's Company", the concept imported from Britain but slightly changed for American sensibilities. The show was about three roommates played by John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, and Suzanne Somers who were always thrust into trouble based on their living arrangements, John having to pretend he was gay so the landlords, played by Norman Fell, Audra Lindley, and later Don Knotts, would not kick them out. The entire dynamic of the show was based on sexual innuendoes and double entendres though no nudity or actual sexual situations took place. The show had a lengthy run with numerous character changes but ultimately, the first few years were Hollywood magic in terms of popularity and the show is still adored by many all over the world in reruns. Well, the ideas behind the show and title itself have been parodied numerous times over the years but it took Will Ryder & Scott David of X-Play to step up to the plate and offer a truly enjoyable porn version of the show, the title being Not Three's Company XXXBlu-ray. I know readers have heard it all before but this was yet another case of the duo improving on their past efforts, the show as written (though pornified) as well written as anything George Burditt, Martin Rips, or Bernard West ever wrote for the original show. This was also the closest in terms of theme, characters, and art direction that any of the so-called "sitcums" have come to the original, even the theme music so close as to invite legal scrutiny of the production. The premise of the movie was Jack (Van Damage) losing his chef job so Chrissy (Brynn Tyler) gets a night job to help out, leading Janet (Penny Flame) and the Ropers (Nina Hartley and Dino Bravo) to think she's hooking. I'm not going to ruin your enjoyment with spoilers but many of the one-liners were very amusing to laugh out loud funny, some of the cast closely enough in character that it helped favorably change my opinion of them a bit. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Allyssa Hall and Madison Scott

Scene One: Brynn Tyler, the hot looking blond featured on the front cover, was up first as she masturbated in bed. She used her fingers and large toys, some similar footage included as a bonus scene. It was a nice warm up to the rest of the show and while she was on the loud side with her screaming performance, I'd have liked her vibrator clean if presented to me. Yum!

Scene Two: Sienna West, playing busty MILF Lana (the gal that was always after Jack in one of the mid-run seasons), was up next as she hooked up with Tommy Gunn, the muscular stud playing Jack's friend Larry (the sleazy lady's man). He used a date with Jack as leverage to get her legs spread, the pair kissing and caressing each other as her clothing came off and Tommy sucked her ample titties. She liked his attentive oral enough that she allowed him to continue, her own knob slobbing experience proudly on display before Tommy ate her out too. Roxy smelled the action in the room and the scene paid tribute to what so many people suspected the character; that Janet was a lesbian. Roxy was the initial aggressor as she pawed and ate Penny, the oral antics soon showing both gals to be increasingly active with each other. They rimmed and used large toys too, the first of which resembled an old fashioned vibrator but the second a modern strap on dildo. Like many of the other scenes, it was shorter than most gonzo sex but still fulfilling overall, Penny really adding something special to the scene.

Scene Five: Nina Hartley, the matron of porn and outspoken advocate for the industry, was up next in a short blowjob-only scene with Dino Bravo. Given past efforts that always came across as age-centric, I really didn't expect this one to happen given the director's focus on youthful gals but it worked in the context of the movie really well, Nina's oral skills something well known in and out of porn. Her hand assisted hummer sucked him dry in mere minutes, the characters a lot more satisfying than their original series counterparts (Mr. Roper always seeming to be impotent and his wife always on the prowl).

Scene Six: Brynn Tyler, this time in a medical clinic, was up next with Eric "Al Bundy" Swiss after her pervert doctor (played by James Bartholet) felt her up. Eric took his time examining her crotch with his tongue, the happy juice she was on erasing her inhibitions significantly. That led to her aggressively blowing him, her oral skills quite solid from the looks of it, her greedy lips wrapping around his cock as she went at it. Her curvy body and animal print outfit worked for me really well, just as hot as any of the other ladies in the flick (if not hotter!) and showing a lot of real aggression as she worked him over orally. Her blowjob was enhanced a lot by the portion of it done in POV but even her active riding was exceptionally appealing, the light sheen of sweat covering her body enticing me more than a little. Her active riding was great and I liked it even more when she turned around to show her fleshy booty rippling delightfully well. They continued until she took the facial, the sexual end of the movie well done!

Summary: Not Three's Company XXX Blu-ray by director Will Ryder for X-Play show a lot of the same creativity and ingenuity his previous efforts provided but also better writing. The cast seemed as if it made a serious attempt at emulating various aspects of the original characters rather than just pornify the situations as lesser projects have done, the result being a superior sitcum with lots of replay value, strokability, and entertainment value so I rated it as Highly Recommended. As is common knowledge at this writing, the production team at X-Play is the only group able to hit the mark consistently with their comedic parodies, even the sex showing some care rather than being tacked on as an afterthought. In short, Not Three's Company XXX was a remarkably solid hit that so closely mimicked the original, it should be thought of as a tribute to the series rather than a rip-off attempt to cash in on it, a rare enough occurrence in the porn industry but one folks have come to expect from the company. In terms of the high definition upgrade, the benefits of the picture improvements were not as immediately obvious as the best such releases on the market today but given the choice between great looking crap or a fun fuck flick with staying power, I'll take the titles like this that have litterally changed the face of the maketplace in a very short time (that still look pretty darned good).
