Audio/Video Quality: Broken Hearts was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Jim Powers for Smash Pictures. The lighting was good in each scene, varying to meet the needs of the story rather than just applied generically as is common in adult features. The editing by Hollywood Max was well done too, the cuts made to meet the story rather than using whatever footage was given being slapped together without thought. The composition of the camera angles provided a solid mix of shots too, a lot of location shots and what appeared to be green screen effects used to propel the feature aspects of the show. The audio was presented in a standard 2.0 Dolby Digital, the musical score portions of the movie were mixed with the vocals nicely, few ambient sounds provided to give the scenes depth but ambitious sound is rare in porn features these days, the overall effect of the technical qualities being that they worked at making the story work better rather than just imitate the mainstream feature the show was based on.

Body of Review: Jim Powers has long been a big “name” in hardcore gonzo but having reinvented himself as a feature director for Smash Pictures in recent times, the man has gained a lot of attention. His latest title along those lines sent for review is called Broken Hearts, another romance flick where the leading male loses the girl, searches for another, and presumably finds true love once more while porking everything coming across his path. Given my own circumstance of late, I can surely relate but as generic as all this sounds, it was well put together thanks to some balanced casting of ladies like Remy LaCroix, Mischa Brooks, and Ash Hollywood (among others) with guys like Ritchie Calhoun, Logan Pierce, and Dane Cross. Suffice it to say that the audience best suited for this one is the couples market but I liked it too and I tend to represent the rain coater crowd more than anything. Unlike others, I won’t be a dickhead and ruin the plotted elements but there was some meat on the bone there too, enough to elevate the quality f the production beyond the current romance novel gone wild spree companies are chasing after of late.

The back cover described the movie like this: “Richie (CALHOUN) thinks he has finally found his one true love when he begins a whirlwind romance with a woman in San Francisco (REMY LE CROIX). Risking everything he decides to take a surprise trip to SF and profess his love to her only to discover she is married. Heartbroken and crushed he returns to Los Angeles to put his life back together. Michelle (MISCHA BROOKS), also recently heartbroken by a cheating boyfriend has given up men. Her best friends Amy and Kinzi (KENNEDY LEIGH) are truly worried about her. Amy (ABBY CROSS) is married to a true romantic Logan and Kinzi is spoiled by her infatuated boyfriend Dan (DANE CROSS). Through a chance encounter on the beach and via the fact Michelle rents a room from Amy, Michelle and Richie soon start hanging out and spending time together. ASH HOLLYWOOD makes an appearance as a wild actress/musician who dates Richie's friend Tommy (DANNY WYLDE), and stirs up a dinner party by sneaking off to the bathroom for a quickie. Will Mischa and Richie eventually decide to take the plunge back into the ocean of love again?” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Remy LaCroix, the smoking hot babe on the front cover, was up first in a tight gray dress, her shapely ass pressing against the fabric enough to outline where her skimpy black thong cut into her leg. Summary: Broken Hearts by director Jim Powers for Smash Pictures was another romance feature that seems best suited for the couples crowd given the relative short length of the sex scenes yet it had enough strength as a “love lost” fuck flick to merit a rating above the “check it out as a rental” I had heard one of my peers plastered it with the other day, my rating of Recommended given as much on the strength of the feature elements (some nice footage outside and in romantic settings) and themes as the actual boning trysts the cast enjoyed. I would have appreciated seeing more tease and certainly more sex starring Remy LaCroix but readers will already know that, the end result being this was another solid little tale of love lost and found again. In short, Broken Hearts should find an audience when it comes out next week, it certainly livened my Monday morning up a few degrees and each of the ladies here was definitely a hot little piece of ass (even if none of them did anal) so give it a look and tell me what you think.
