Extras: The best traditional extra was the 17:12 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, introducing the cast and concept. Otherwise there was a photogallery, the double disc set providing FOUR separate versions of the movie (Blu-ray in 3D and 2D as well as standard definition 2D and weaker anaglyph 3D version). For my money, I would have loved to see another disc full of extras to make this package stand out, after all if you provide a high definition version the people so equipped don’t want a regular version and vice versa, but the general price this sells for is competitive with similar offerings by other companies.

Audio/Video Quality: This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Axel Braun for Hustler Video. This time, Axel handled art direction, some of the cameras, and a variety of other technical roles with the results being largely favorable. The video bitrate hovered around 4.8 Mbps (when spot checked), it looked almost as if shot using a film emulating process rather than the typical video look, the special effects handled by Level 5 Post and set design by XXX Ray showing at least a modicum of care (for a porn flick at least). The lighting was solid and there were a number of touches used to emulate the “look” of specific scenes from the original movies, some of the rougher edges polished up in post production by people like editor Claudia Ross (and Axel) just as the writing by Roger Krypton helped keep the essential elements without killing the sex. The audio was presented in a basic 2.0 Dolby Digital with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps aural bitrate, the vocals clearly heard regardless of the situation. The musical interludes sounded much like the original score from the 1980’s film too, another decent attempt at providing a better aural experience than is typically the case in adult flicks, the work by Seth Cardigan, Harry Nutsack, and Drew Rose enhancing the aural experience a whole lot. The quick version of the high definition Blu-ray version and 3D versions is that they were an upgrade in several ways, the 3D from the Blu-ray version way better than the anaglyph version (on a friend’s 60”+ sparkling active 3D set yielding a much better experience than the ten minute glimpse at the home theater store after closing time (bribing the manager with porn only gave me a short window to optimize the set up).

Body of Review: Axel Braun is currently one of the top porn parody directors in terms of sheer quantity, some of his most publicized titles coming out of Hustler Video. While his ratio of misses to hits leaves some people a bit cold, he has had a pretty solid year of late, only a weak political satire falling well short of the intended mark. That said, one of his biggest stumbling blocks of last year was trying to make a decent 3D porno, most of the usual crowd avoiding mentioning just how flawed the effort was (for all sorts of reasons, both thematic and technical), luckily he gathered a better staff to try and “do it right” with his latest release, This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX, largely succeeding. The original two mainstream movies made tons of money and thanks to some strategic decisions by writer Roger Krypton, the porno emulates just enough while still tying in the sex successfully and pornifying just the right elements to keep fans happy. Evan Stone was wisely selected to carry the majority of comedy (in the Bill Murray role from the movies) and each of the cast had something to add beyond the usual screwing. As an added bonus, the movie package contains four versions of the movie so that even those that get headaches from the 3D process can enjoy it, high definition fans much more likely to appreciate this one than anything on the market at this writing in terms of blu-ray parodies, 3D, and combo packs offering fuck for the buck value. I’m not going to ruin the specific scenes by describing them in great detail, either the sex or the feature portions, just knowing that Eli Cross was involved as the master of photography meaning it was bound to hit a high note on the technical values. Of note too was the aural experience, the blending of the music, vocals, and ambient noises a lot better than the usual hack job parody. While mainstream companies may not have a lot to worry about in terms of the competition, considering the budgets involved, the entertainment factor was off the scale with this one, keeping in mind that even a few friends that don’t like porn parodies found this one to be (and I quote) “fucking great.”

The back cover described the show like this: “A sexy satire that couldn't come soon enough! The classic spooky 80's spoof features a hot cast featuring Alec Knight, James Deen, Evan Stone, Tee Reel, Raven Alexis, Lily LaBeau, Joslyn James, Alexis Texas and Ron Jeremy! This 2 disc combo pack comes packed with a Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD Standard, and DVD Analglyph! There is nothing scary about these lusty specters! Bustin' makes them feel good!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

The Car!

Scene One: Lily LaBeau, a foxy young blond coed, was up first with the mighty Evan Stone, the man working his charms on her as part-carnival huckster, part-brazenly inappropriate professor. She took to slobbing his knob is aggressive fashion, both of them having fun with the role as it expanded on the original substantially. He tanned her sweet ass with a ruler before pounding her pussy with his raging erection, Lily quite vocal in her appreciation for his thrusting member. She was an active rider and even in the standing doggy she showed why she made the perfect person for the role, Evan eating her out before the ending facial of population pudding graced her mug. They had chemistry and energy to spare, starting off the movie really well both sexually and in terms of establishing the lead male character.

Scene Two: Alexis Texas, a hotty blond with a great ass, was up next as she transitioned from the spiritual world to the physical plane in a manner that moper Alec Knight found quite satisfying. When she materialized, and the scene was decidedly better in high definition (though I preferred the 2D version I must say), she dropped to her knees and began inhaling his cock like she had a need for seed. Alexis used her mouth, hand, and eye contact in unison to work his admittedly modest member into her mouth until completely turgid, the young lady bouncing on his pecker hard in the messy library. She did some PTM and I loved her ass flesh shaking in high definition, Alec’s snatch diving less than convincing but Alexis looking fine as the supernatural hotty come to life. The pop shot to her ass was okay but so much of the genetic juice flew wildly that fans of the male placement might fuss.

Scene Three: Raven Alexis, a vast improvement on the original actress from the mainstream flicks (Sigourney never looked that hot to me), was up next as she reclined on the couch in her red dress to seduce Evan Stone. She wore no panties and spread her legs wide, diddling herself until he went down on her juicy snatch and she reciprocated with her infamously satisfying blowjob. There was a lot of hand to gland action here, some titty fucking, and moderately active vaginal riding but Raven was good as eye candy no matter how aggressively she would have worked the cock in her holes. Raven was a bit overly vocal, not selling me that she was getting off very well, but when you look that good you can get away with it. The scene closed up when Evan rubbed one out on her face as she looked up at him, Raven tasting his spunk before the feature elements kicked back into gear.

Scene Four: Sarah Shevon, an attractive brunette who I considered another upgrade in casting, was the team secretary whose need for seed overcame her into spreading her legs on the desk for James Deen and spaz Jeremy Conway to plunder. Given the strength of her performance, I think a spinoff is in order, her potential largely untapped but most strokable all the same. More Special Effects!

Scene Five: Joslyn James, playing a suitable replacement for the “Staypuff marshmallow man”, was up next as a MILF in need of some interracial loving from Tee Reel on the temple steps. Summary: This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX by director Axel Braun for Hustler Video seemed to spend a great deal of effort on the sonic portions of the production, a lot more care on the 3D this time, and made it a focused effort to emulate but not completely imitate the original features, the amount of polishing up considerable upon repeated viewings so I rated it as an Xcritic Pick. The ladies included babes like Raven Alexis, Alexis Texas, Lily LaBeau, Sarah Shevon, and Joslyn James, while the ensemble comedy was pared down substantially to showcase the mighty Evan Stone as the goofy professor trying just as hard to get laid as catch supernatural spirits. In short, This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX satisfied all the usual feature elements while providing the expected sexual trysts in the appropriate places, the comedy aspects of the show nearly as solid as the technical attributes so consider this double disc set if you have a high end 3D system as a means of showcasing at least one porno capable of crossing over.
