Extras: With such a lengthy running time, I really didn’t expect many extras so the 8:55 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, the pop shot recap from the scenes, the trailers, and photogallery & website were okay at best.

Audio/Video Quality: Best New Starlets 2014 was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Asa Akira for Elegant Angel. The camera work by Toni Ribas was not as fluid as it could have been, nor was the single camera approach the best way to go with this kind of a shoot, the editing by R. Patrick helping to polish up the rough edges as best as possible. The framing was not always flattering but the flesh tones of the ladies did look accurate in most cases, the tease montages handled well enough though they were not long enough for my tastes. There was no continuous company watermark on the screen at all times so that should appeal to many out there, the overall visual elements coming across as decent but not exceptional. The aural components were pretty basic too, the vocals during the opening interviews very crisp and easy to hear while the vocals during the actual sexual trysts sometimes hollow with echo to them, the music added in very lightly in most cases to make it come across as somewhat more generic than previous volumes in the series.

Body of Review: Asa Akira has been an extremely popular performer for years now, the impressive young lady trying to take her career to the next level by directing for Elegant Angel. A few months ago, she took over one of the company flagship titles with Best New Starlets 2014, a showcase for female performers the company believes will be the next big names in the industry. In previous years, company titles like this one have brought a great degree of attention to the talent, sort of making it a self fulfilling prophecy to a degree, this time using an attractive cast of hotties that has been around awhile longer than usual. Cindy Starfall, surprisingly not featured on the front cover, was the only diversity this time, the Xcritic blogger completely established well before this movie came out. Kennedy Leigh was another who had already been showcased and up for numerous awards, Presley Hart around since 2011, Teal Conrad & Casey Calvert certainly appealing pieces of eye candy too. Which of these, if any, will carry on the company tradition of “owing it all to their performance” here, you ask? Probably none but each gave a satisfactory showing all the same, the predictive value of the franchise in previous years the result of some behind the scenes chicanery more than picking random babes out of the air. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

In short, Best New Starlets 2014 may never be seriously considered as strong as earlier volumes in the series but with ladies like Cindy Starfall, Casey Calvert, Teal Conrad, Kennedy Leigh, and Presley Hart, there should be enough momentum to keep the series going in future, hopefully better, volumes so give it a look.
