Audio/Video Quality: Before I get too far, let me sum this one up for you: terrible! The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color in each movie. All of them looked like 4th hand copies off of a defective videotape. The grain was off-the-scale horrible, the video noise more plentiful than any other DVD I've seen, there were huge numbers of motion artifacts, there were even color bars across the screen. On top of that, half the times I tried to play it, it locked up or had blocky artifacts throughout the show (I tried this on a few players-there were no obvious defects on the disc too). The sound was only incredibly bad, which was a step up from the picture quality. In the last movie, much of it had no sound except for a humming noise although the vocals did pop up eventually. The dynamic range of the vocals was extremely limited, worse than an AM radio station too far away during a solar storm, as well as hollow.

Review: One of the perks to reviewing adult movies for such a great website is that I get to see a lot of titles that I might otherwise miss out on. In a bunch of cases, I've come across titles and companies releasing porn that I'd never have tried if I had to pay full price. In some cases, the movies are really hot but most of the time, they really stink or are just plain average. With upwards of 12,000 titles released every year, no one sees it all, even an old porn hound like me, so reviewing older stuff can be a mixed bag. After all, out of all those titles, most are lost into oblivion since porn is designed to be churned out, then forgotten about (most titles aren't even reviewed these days) after a very short lifespan on your local rental outlet's shelves.

So, with all this said, what happens when a title appears to be promising, based on its all-important DVD cover, and turns out to be really, really bad? Sadly, such is the case with Pom Pom Pussy. The DVD is actually a group of four movies made in 1999, an eon in terms of porn quality, that all revolve around a theme of cheerleaders. Granted, none of the women from the movies looked like they belonged on a cheerleading squad, be it high school, college, professional or otherwise, but they did wear cheerleader outfits.

The picture and sound quality didn't vary much this time though. They were both uniformly bad. It reminds me of the old army joke about food; the bad news is that the food sucks but the good news is that there's plenty of it. Sexually, most of the sex was oral and straight with a bit of anal. In the last movie, there was a blowjob scene to start off with but the rest were masturbation scenes with no men at all. In the third movie, the only guy was Dave Hardman, and that's almost the same thing. But seriously, the technical limitations and ultra-low budget releases put together here may appeal to a few fans of some of the cast for all their limitations.

The sex wasn't exceptionally warm in any way and the women weren't top of the line by any standards known to mankind. The movies averaged out to about 75 minutes apiece with four scenes each. In the first two movies, Micky Ray interviewed the women and the camera was set up in a static position. The gals introduced themselves before engaging in sex with a guy. In the third movie, the gals had a similar deal except the scenes took place in a poorly constructed locker room set before screwing Dave. In the last movie, it started off with a blowjob to some unknown guy before the rest of the scenes took place (which were solo only).

Summary: I guess the old adage of quantity over quality is the best way too look at this DVD. If you don't mind the technical problems, the cast, weak sex, and the lack of extras, you can satisfy yourself knowing you're getting over five hours of porn for the price of one current movie. My personal preference in adult movies is high end production values with hot looking women so my rating for this one is simply to Skip It. If you really like cheerleaders and are willing to sacrifice the other aspects of a movie to see a lot of them, you may like this one more than I did, after all, the DVD costs less than $9.
