Overview: In his third installment of the Polyamory series, director James Avalon presents a story-based all-sex film in four parts.

Avalon maintains the high quality one would expect from EroticaX and the XEmpire brands. Scenes are brightly lit and shot in that increasingly popular glam-porn style. If you’re a fan of Nubiles, Lansky or Kross, then this will whet your appetite.

What sets Polyamory apart from most all-sex artporn movies is its continuous plot. While sex is the focus, the characters are all interrelated sharing cameos and setting up the plot for each subsequent scene. It’s refreshing to see that correlation, and it makes the film into one complete work rather than your usual random compilation.

Scene 1:

Aidra Fox and Mick Blue are up for a bit of morning foreplay when Fox’s boyfriend Markus Dupree catches them in the act. Since they share a polyamorous relationship, it’s no big deal to Dupree and he goes about business dressing for the day. Blue is understandably confused about the arrangement, but Aidra Fox is hot and horny so he just rolls with it.

Aidra Fox is a pornographic treasure. She brings her usual blend of romance and fiery passion to bear on an unsuspecting Mick Blue while elevating the scene with her trademark beauty and breathtaking performance.

I love it when she gets on top. She’s fucking hard and practically screaming when Dupree steps back in to grab is briefcase and say goodbye, and this is where Fox shines. She keeps grinding up and down Mick’s shaft slowly while she carries the most ordinary conversation with her boyfriend, even reminding him to grab some coffee on the way home. Fox is either getting great cardio or she’s experience some very real orgasms. Her chest and face are glowing bright red for most of the scene and her gasps are downright frantic. Judging by how swollen and wanting her lady bits have become, I’d wager the latter. Go get it girl!

Make no mistake, this is the best scene on Polyamory Vol. 3 by far. Aidra Fox is electrifying and Mick Blue is a champion as always. A must-watch for fans who like a delightful and playful bang without any extremes or fancy stuff.

Scene 2:
Dupree runs into ex-girlfriend, Mia Malkova at the grocery store and helps her carry her groceries home. She asks him about how his open relationship is going and you can tell he’s having a hard time with it today. After all,  he went to work while Fox was banging to her heart’s content. It must be hard to walk away from that.

Ever the forward one, Malkova asks for a kiss for old time’s sake which acts as a catalyst for the inevitable kitchen sex. Things develop so quickly that I don’t buy the sexual tension. Sure they are ex’s and maybe Dupree was wanting since seeing Aidra Fox fuck that morning, but there ought to be a little foreplay or at least some flirting.

And why is Dupree in Mia’s house? When you run into an old girlfriend, do you make a special trip to her house just to carry the groceries? OK, maybe this guy had something else on his mind to start with.

Mia Malkova is beautiful. She’s always been a delight with great genuine and warm smiles since her career start in 2012. Although she doesn’t do her trademark back-stretch, Malkova showcases her flexibility with some leg-raised sex positions.

Her eye-contact is sexy too, closing her eyes and then slowly opening them with this upward glance at Dupree. Every now and then she takes a page out of the Kenna James playbook, rolling the eyes backwards passionately.

It’s an awkward set with Dupree fucking Malkova in a cramped kitchen. The action starts on the countertop and quickly transitions to the barstool. It’s a real balancing act and both actors deserve credit for contorting into position and applying real force without falling over. It’s a little awkward at times; you can see Dupree manually adjusting the height of the chair mid-action. He even stands her against the wall and accidentally knocks a chair over. Yay for passion, but it’s things like that which distract from the important thing: sex with a dynamite woman.

Malkova gets a nice hard fuck throughout. She goes through an extraordinary number of positions and Dupree manages to bang her with lightning fast intensity, even at some deep and tight penetration angles. It is astounding that he made it through the scene without popping early--that’s real porno-professionalism there.

There’s also some fancy stuff, namely a short touch of squirting. It happens early in the scene when Dupree pulls out and starts fingerbanging in that come-hither motion. The moment he starts doing it you just know he’s trying for a squirt. Malkova lets loose one of her big heartwarming smiles and says “I like that,” before delivering some juice.

Scene 3:

Kenna James confides in friend and longtime porno collaborator James Deen about how she needs “more” than what she gets in her relationship with Alexa Grace. Timidly, she asks for a kiss with the intent to “try and see what happens.” But Grace happens to pass by the window and catch wind of the escapade. Not fully onboard the polyamory train, she’s visibly upset and runs off, unbeknownst to James.

You would be hard pressed to find a better pairing today than James Deen and Kenna James. Deen was Kenna’s porno crush long before diving into the industry and the two have become one of the most dynamic couples across the art-porn spectrum.

James Deen has got Kenna figured out. He is able to make her cum at the press of a, ahem, button. And that’s exactly what he does. Ever the gentleman, he doesn’t even begin to disrobe until Kenna’s body is on the verge of exploding.

That’s the jist of this scene. Kenna James cums hard and often. While I love watching her big orgasms and listening to those deep moans and grunts, there’s not a lot going on in this one. Yes, you’ve got your standard position changes, and the formulaic blend of sex acts, but there isn’t a lot of movement. It’s not a dynamic scene, and for that reason it isn’t very rewatchable. Kenna James fans will love it, but others may be left wanting.

Scene 4:

Still salty from spying on Kenna James’ experience, Alexa Grace confronts Kenna about her romp with James Deen. The open relationship is a new thing for the duo and Grace is having trouble with it. That’s clearly not the case for Kenna James who claims she’d be perfectly fine with Alexa hopping on any dick, so she does.

In the middle of a photo shoot with Kenna James, Alexa asks her colleague Danny Mountain what he thinks of open relationships--a blatant prelude to sex. It’s a polyamorous spin on good old fashioned vengeance sex with Grace going after Mountain to spite her girlfriend. Probably not the healthiest way to approach polyamory.

In a moment that echoes Aidra Fox’s opener, Kenna walks off with a smile saying, “have fun you guys.” Within moments we’re off the the races. Foreplay isn’t much of a thing, but it makes sense in context. Alexa isn’t in love, she just wants to do the deed for the sake of doing it.

For a supposed lesbian, Alexa Grace has some impressive deep throat skills. Clearly she’s more practiced with tubesteaks than we’re led to believe. She goes straight for his cock and chokes on it for a full six minutes! By contrast, Mountain only eats her out for about three minutes before changing it up.

Grace knows how to get herself off. She’s very hands on, dominating Danny from atop and fingering her clit wildly when on the bottom. I like the way she’s so vocal. When on the edge she’s eager to announce it. Like Elena Koshka, Alexa uses her words with lots of “please make me cum,” and “don’t stop!” as those ab muscles tighten.

The set is pretty simple, and were it not for the photography premise might come off as lazy. You can see lighting rigs and various production assets in the background, and all the sex takes place on a black and white leather couch. Here’s my gripe: in a scene set in a photo studio with no shortage of equipment, why are there a few shots with harsh disruptive shadows? This is most noticeable when she gets up in reverse cowgirl.

There’s a nice little denouement after Danny cums all over her chest with some sweet smiles, kisses, and just a touch of cum-play, but there is no resolution to the actual conflict with Kenna. Yes, Ms. James claims that she would be fine with Alexa sleeping with anybody, but how does she feel about that blatant revenge sex? Do they live happily ever after? Will there be an argument when Grace gets home? I guess we’ll have to wait until part four.

Final Thoughts:

Polyamory Vol. 3 starts hot and slows to a simmer. While the sex is hot and the women are beautiful, the scenes sometimes fall into the realm of formulaic porno. I can’t knock it too hard for that--James Avalon captures all the beautiful sex positions we love and films them in mostly impeccable quality. Shots are nicely framed and with a few exceptions the lighting is on point.

The movie shines in its continuity. Scenes flow from one to the other with shared characters and stories, and the movie is stitched together with the same sequence of drone shots. It feels more like a movie and less like a collection. That’s a rarity in the all-sex genre.

As a DVD, Polyamory Vol. 3 leaves much to be desired in terms of extras. You’re only getting a photo gallery and a cumshot recap. That’s hardly enough to encourage fans and collectors to grab a physical copy instead of simply streaming the product online. That is, unless you’re buying it for that spectacular cover art. Seriously, can I get that photo of Aidra Fox framed?

Sex scenes are hot and work well as one-off wank material, but might leave more discerning fans wanting. Aside from Aidra Fox’s outstanding scene, it’s not highly rewatchable. And for those into the real rough stuff, well, what are you doing reading an EroticaX review in the first place?

For the glamcore fans, I say stream it.
