Extras: The first disc had only a photogallery and trailers to speak of as extras. The second disc benefitted by having a lengthy XXX scene starring Magdalen Art, Tina, Markus Waxenegger, Nick Lang, Reinhard lasting 25:40 minutes. The second disc also had a photogallery, a cumshot compilation, and trailers for those who care but the best extra other than the bonus scene was the 103:10 minutes worth of Behind the Scenes footage. The guys were taking stills and the scenes were underway, some cast comments, and the ladies interacting with the web audience were all noted too.

Audio/Video Quality: Nacho Vidal Vs. Live Gonzo was presented in anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 widescreen as shot in by director Raul Cristian for Evil Angel in the MPEG-2 codec used for standard definition releases (including 480 resolution). There was a lot of strong lighting that helped maximize the quality of the picture, the camera still showing a lot of extra movement thanks to Raul’s usual jumpy method of catching the action. The relative lack of editing (these were live shows, remember) did not help /hurt in this endeavor either with a movie as long as this one needing extra care to make sure that there is enough tease but also heated sexual antics, my initial impression being that there was less tease footage than usual which admittedly hurt the rating. The bitrate was decent so there were few obvious compression artifacts, the aliasing minimal and given the sheer amount of quality footage on display, most fans will be quite happy; Raul allowing the ladies to provide some heated raw energy even if his attempts to capture it were mixed. The bitrate hovered all over the place this time, higher than usual with most of the movie in the 5.3 Mbps range, but varying across the board depending on the scene. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (at 192 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering that really didn't use any separation in terms of the vocals (there was some potential to do so here too). The dynamic range was also kind of generic, an area that seemed slightly better than previous efforts and an area that Raul could easily improve to make best use of the great many home theaters in the hands of porn fans everywhere.

Body of Review: Raul Cristian is a European director at Evil Angel known for his rough treatment of women, usually selecting performers for his movies that get off on it. It therefore makes a lot of sense for him to join in on the bandwagon by utilizing the services of popular Nacho Vidal in his live shows aired online, the result being four lengthy scenes in Nacho Vidal Vs. Live Gonzo, a double disc title sent to me for review. Nacho, having garnered quite a reputation over the years, has long struck me as hit or miss in the sense that some women truly have fun with him while others think he is too over the top in his work, the results being the chemistry in said scenes varied a lot. This time though, he was paired up with extreme queens like Phoenix Marie, Bobbi Starr, Gracie Glam, and others to have a better than even chance of making a winner, director Raul Cristian capturing the events with minimal editing (see the BTS footage to prove some editing took place).

Live Gonzo may well suit you a great deal if you want to see a lot of choking, hard anal, pushing of limits, and the usual stuff the director provides as amplified by the dominance of Nacho Vidal in the driver’s seat. It wasn’t the hardest work the director or Nacho have made of late but it was not another generic gonzo offering either, the bottom line being that you should consider this title the kind of web to DVD release that is becoming rarer by the day given how so many people want more women-friendly scenes, the raincoaters likely to appreciate it for exactly what it is (nearly four hours of hardcore action plus a bonus scene and lengthy BTS for the fans of the cast).
