Audio/Video Quality: Anal Freaks was presented in anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Mimefreak for Elegant Angel. This being the first of the director’s titles for the company provided me for review, I had to consciously remember that he is part of the rebranded company, not the beloved old school EA that I grew to appreciate over so many years. Thankfully, the scenes were shot in similar manner with a lot of lighting, limited camera work, modest edits, and a devotion to detail, my biggest fuss being the transition to providing just four scenes rather than the previous standard of five. There were some minor rough spots in need of polishing up so few conscious viewers would mistake this for anything shot by Nutsack or Mason but it grew on me, the director providing a look reminiscent of LT Turner’s works for the company, well within the guidelines of acceptability and better than what I see from the established second and third tier companies (translation: Elegant is back!). The color tones were accurate in most cases (way too saturated in Phoenix’s scene though) and camera movement not invasive, the company watermark not present here. The aural components were similar too, the limited musical portions during opening and tease montages replaced by the usual grunts and groans of the sexual trysts once the action began.

Body of Review: Mimefreak is the latest “new” director at Elegant Angel, the company undergoing massive changes last year when it swapped hands and most of the staff bailed for greener pastures. The first release I’ve seen helmed by the man is called Anal Freaks, his technical acumen akin to the well lit titles shot by LT Turner in days of old at the company, of particular interest for me because of the lead starlet, Phoenix Marie. The curvy babe was featured on the front cover and looked great as ever, the delicious anal queen garnering a scene alongside notables such as Penny Pax, Bailey Blue, and Adriana Chechik; each of them suitable for a high end all sex release such as this. Other than the four hotties doing anal, I really had few expectations for the movie since it is the first of the “New” Elegant Angel works to come in for review, my curiosity to see how they’ve held up amid reports of both mediocrity and/or glowing fanboy praise from unreliable sources. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Penny Pax, an award winning redhead wearing glasses, was up first giving a brief interview in her black and white dress. This led to her in sheer black bikini undies outside for a tease montage, a slower pace than what I’m used to from the company but a decent showcase of her looks and body parts nonetheless. It was far too short and led to her bantering with the director as she stretched her perfect pucker using an all too large glass dildo, Preston Parker soon coming to assist her by rimming her and gobbling her gash which led to her slobbing his knob. Penny was an accomplished oralist and provided a devoted hummer, some hand to gland friction enhancing the oral as she gave wonderful eye contact. Summary: Anal Freaks by director Mimefreak for Elegant Angel was not one of the company’s flagship titles so while the inclusion of a mere four scenes initially struck me as “going cheap” as others have done, I cannot stress enough that the casting was well in line with previous years. Phoenix Marie looked great, easily earning her cover spot though Bailey Blue, Adriana Chechik, and Xcritic’s award winning Penny Pax all looked and performed just fine. I rated the single disc release as a solid Recommended as all the scenes were not as top notch as could be but this was a very good start for the company in my opinion, further observations on a couple other releases forthcoming. In short, Anal Freaks was a good title for ass aficionados to appreciate from Elegant, the enthusiasm of the ladies helping elevate their profiles even further up the porn pantheon as the company makes a proverbial comeback. If I get a chance to see previous releases from the company since last summer, I’ll have more to compare with but they seem to be doing fine as they try to catch up to the established leaders in gonzo porn, JJV and Evil.
