Foreword: We got a chance to look at two of Bree Mills' films prior to their release and we knew that one of those films was very personal to Bree and that she was probably hoping we'd review that one ASAP. Well, we didn't because, like Bree, we are rebels. We're also a bunch of film fanatics around here who just happen to also like porn. So, getting multiple perspectives on Perspective seemed to be the logical choice for us. Now, for those of you industry folks that are attending the Hollywood Premiere of this film, and those waiting with bated breath for this to premiere online or at your local DVD shop, be warned there may be some spoilers below but we tried to keep them to a minimum.
[Editor's Note: Normally, I try to edit these multi-person reviews for brevity but since we are talking about perspectives here, I did not do that, so grab yourself a beverage and check it out]

For the longest time, this humble reviewer has been predicting a new renaissance in the field of adult entertainment. A new wave of maverick filmmakers who are willing to break conventions and reinvent erotica for the most loyal fans. Ladies and gentlemen, I am so happy to say that the renaissance is here, and its leader is Bree Mills. She is a truly daring visionary who isn't afraid to throw her ideas to the wall and see if they stick. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't, but she's definitely hit the mark with her most ambitious project yet. And that is the groundbreaking Perspective, an erotic psychological thriller that will be talked about for generations much like the erotic masterpieces of yore like Behind The Green Door and The Devil In Miss Jones. In it the marvelously talented superstar Angela White plays the dual role of sadistic vixen and tortured victim to the equally talented Seth Gamble, who himself plays the dual role of a weak cuckold and cruel and murderous madman. Of course it all depends on your “Perspective”. As the film hasn't been released yet I don't want to give away too much of the plot. Just know that this is a brilliantly constructed story that will keep you rewatching for days to catch all of the little details.
There are two different versions to be released, a full hardcore rated X version that clocks in at over 3 ½ hours, and a 100 min. R rated version that will play in theaters. In essence, they are two separate movies, each having their own feel and tone. The R-rated version being more story-driven and showcasing the amazing acting of all of the performers, while the X-rated version, of course, expands on the sex. This is without a doubt Angela White's career-defining performance. In the first half of the film, her delivery as the cruel and manipulative philanderer to Seth's helpless cuckold of a husband is already menacing enough. The looks she gives to the camera in the X-rated version as she's fucking everyone in sight will give you such a chill that it's almost nerve-wracking. And then to turn right around in the second half where she becomes the abused victim to Seth's cruelty is so heartbreaking that you are bound to shed a tear or two for her. On the other side of the coin you have Seth Gamble, who is truly having an incredibly impressive year showing off his acting prowess since his AVN win for The Possession Of Mrs. Hyde, plays the dual role with equal ease. In the first half he plays the timid dupe to Angela's cheating ways, catching all of the signs of her infidelities (all culminating in him witnessing a wonderfully filmed orgy sequence by the way), and then to turn around in the film's second half to be one of the cruelest, torturous and murdering madmen in history shows his amazing versatility as an actor as well. Then with a supporting cast which includes the spectacular Abigail Mac as Angela's friend who becomes her lover in a VERY tender, sensuous and loving lesbian scene, and Michael Vegas as Angela's grief counselor, you have a terrific ensemble that truly delivers the good.
This project is a true labor of love from all involved both in front of and behind the camera. Bree Mills has assembled such a truly amazing team of artists to help create her vision and it more than shows on the screen. This is the one true CAN'T-MISS film of the season that is bound to see plenty of love when award time rolls around. It's truly what great adult storyline adult film making is all about.

How do we see our partners? How do we see ourselves? Perspective is a film that asks these questions and perhaps a bit more. Haunting is the word that comes to mind when asked by my editor speak on what this film means to me as a critic, writer, and human being. The essence of trust, or the lack thereof is captured so daringly. If you are a lover who has been scorned, this film will have you hook, line and sinker, right from the start. How hard it is to create that element of not knowing on screen. Bree Mills, Seth Gamble, they make you question even what a Porn Star knows about sex and sexuality. This film shows a side of acting and creation within the industry that I think fans will not see coming and may even open the eyes of people within the industry who think that they have this side of the equation when it comes to relationships mastered. The locations that are visited, the places in the mind that you go with Perspective, you are taken to moments in your own life, your own timeline of love, lessons, craziness, and pain. Followed with a shot of lust straight to the heart like a needle of adrenaline for the junky of love who has seen what is created within this story. I can not say this enough, you must have seen what these characters have seen to appreciate this film. It is something that speaks to every human being, whether they have heard this tale or not because it is a sickness and cure that lies within the human heart and that is what makes this film a work of pure psychology, art and entertainment in the world that is forever hungry to get their fill of reality. You will get it here, that is for damn sure.
There is a line that is crossed when it comes to erotica within this film and it is not a bad thing. Much like how a horror film takes us to places we do not wish to tread; this film comes to life in ways that make any lover remember the past and anyone who has not seen such heartbreak fear what they do not know. Angela White and Seth Gamble are able to become the people within your jaded memories. They can make real-life scenarios become all too tangible on screen. This is a true tale of how you must come to terms with love, lust and everything in between. Dare I say that this surpasses a psychological thriller. This is something along the lines of Dr. Ruth meets Ari Aster in a seedy bar to put on paper the things you simply can not put into words, or at least never have been. This tale of self-doubt and fear within the worlds we create is something that has not been seen since the days of The Dark Brothers. This is a film that can and does stand alone without the XXX additions that come with the “industry” version of this true to life piece of cinema. From a technical standpoint, this film fills in the gaps most adult films miss and when you are done, you are left shell shocked, or dare I say, happy. That is the genius of this film, it caters to many types of minds, both devious and innocent. The actors of this film, they create ghosts from anyone’s past, they are characters of pure emotion that any audience member can relate to. I can not remember if there has ever been a film made like this in our beloved industry. After watching, it makes you wish that there were more.

The idea of having perspective is about the duality of a foggy reality that the human mind must face. Ignorance has a root in this human trait of attempting to piece together differing viewpoints. But true perspective demands an actual experience from an individual to see what it is like on the other side. Given that the luxury of perspective only allows two sides to a story. Most cyclical maladies are devoid of any real perspective as it is separated with combative vacuums. But until you experience two sides of a story, only then can you be treated to a true perspective of a situation. Can a porn movie show you a detailed maze of viewpoints? The conventional answer from the mainstream may not align with this advanced outlook from the actual porn filmed titled “Perspective”, but daring viewers will see the truth in it. To viewers outside of adult entertainment, this is probably new territory. That is why an R-rated version with toned down sexual encounters, you know the stuff that makes a porno a porno, will lure those curious enough to watch Bree Mill’s Perspective. Outside the marring of what a porno is supposed to be.
Seasoned porn viewers are also challenged to see their everyday favorites sequester their acting abilities outside the acrobatic sex acts they are used to see them perform. This is because of this XXX-less version of the film. It is a differing perspective to those who may be used to watching porn films for one reason, to get off.
Angela White plays a character named Jennifer in this film. She is married to a man named Daniel played by Seth Gamble. It is a setting all too familiar inside and out of pornographic films, the perfect married couple. It is Bree Mills’ canvas for a calamity which undoubtedly erupts with these two championed performers displaying a sharpened craft. The familiar faces you see as supporting roles like Whitney Wright, Abigail Mac, and Michael Vegas are the sparks that fly from this sharpening. Angela White rips through different ranges of emotion in Perspective’s realities. The instantaneous mock-up of an average relationship almost robotically portrayed right at the start is the stage for shattered perspectives to be pieced together.
The opening scene is of Daniel working diligently at his desk before his wide-eyed wife steps in to interrupt his world with an odd request, to meet up an old friend for the night. Perceived infidelity takes over the man’s mind which sets up the trade-off of antagonizing viewpoints. Seth Gamble triumphantly tears through his own sanity for this crazed character named Daniel. The viewer is taken on a ride of deceit, distrust, and manias in a winding road with intersections that will bring back you back to familiar spots in this webbing of a plot. Soon enough it all comes to ahead in true climactic form.
Aside from the Hitchcockian hourglass that is the plot, the sex does run amok. This is with the familiarity of true XXX arousal from pro sex workers that can act. The softcore encounters are necessary placeholders but that is another perspective to it. The hardcore sex of the XXX version only fuels the maniac viewpoints or adds passion to the passive. Adult Time’s Perspective is prismatic porn that needs to be seen episodically with the hardcore version while being absorbed as a legitimate thriller with the R-rated version. They are two perspectives of the same story that must be experienced.

Final Thoughts: I (cyber5) have given my opinion on a ton of Bree Mills' flicks, as have the other team members at XCritic. Sometimes her projects hit in the middle of the bat and get knocked out of the park, other times they just get fouled into the dirt. The fact that she offered us this opportunity to give our thoughts before the movie's debut is cool but she knew when she offered this option to us that we would be absolutely brutal with our review if it called for it (full disclosure: they are an advertiser with us but none of our reviewers care about any of that).
As JW mentioned in his opening thoughts, we have been predicting a resurgence of porn also being made to be shown theatrically in non-rated versions with much less graphic sex. It's been almost a decade (more?) since anyone tried the format to widespread acclaim but I think we've crested the mountain on this one and it will make a huge comeback.
Normally, our reviews include screengrabs from a reviewer to reinforce what they are saying but we are forgoing that option this time and just offering you studio stills because we feel that's only fair to the creators of this flick who obviously put in a ton of heart and soul into it. So, what's the final word from the guys who watch a ton of porn? Buy this movie. Watch this movie in both formats. There will be multiple links below to both versions, the choice is yours. XCritic Pick. Someone (not us) already said from just watching the trailer: "And the Oscar goes to Angela White". You can include Seth Gamble and the entire team involved in that sentence.
