Extras: The best extra was the 14:25 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, starting off with some photoshoot material and interview with Brianna Love & Annette Schwarz, moving through the cast to end with Nadia Styles. Melissa Lauren was present throughout the feature so her status as director seemed reasonable and while it cut off abruptly, it had some cute moments. Audio/Video Quality: Un-Natural Sex #22 was presented in an anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 widescreen color as shot by director Melissa Lauren for Diabolic Digital. Having only seen a limited amount of her work as a director in the past, I was ready for anything and to be frank, she did a decent job here with the lighting helping to minimize the video noise, and other visual flaws that are too common to porn flicks these days. The fleshtones looked good and the camera angles were edited too aggressively at times but even the over use of close up shots was not too bad here as far as I was concerned. There was less grain than usual here but the occasional aliasing distracted me on occasion; making the show one of a Melissa's better looking titles. The bitrate was almost always hovering in the mid 6 Mbps area and the picture struck me as being at least as crisp as similar efforts by the company over the years, perhaps the compression ratio or other technical aspect strengthening the picture more than a little bit in the process used to convert the scenes to DVD's MPEG-2 codec. The audio was presented in 1.0 Dolby Digital monarual English using the standard 192 Kbps bitrate, generally sounding lackluster with no depth, separation, or major range in the dynamic of the track. The vocals were minimal in most cases and the background noises rarely noticed; the automatic gain such that it did bug me at times.

Body of Review: Melissa Lauren is probably best known for her many performances in porn though she has dabbled as a director, most recently for Diabolic Digital. I know that it is popular for naysayer's to proclaim performer/directors as figureheads, especially women, these days but I saw some differences in Melissa's latest release, Un-Natural Sex #22, from the last volume in the series I reviewed, Un-Natural Sex #20 (by the deceased Chico Wang) so I wanted to give her a shot. My primary reason for picking this one up was the casting of Aubrey Addams, Annette Schwarz, and of course, Brianna Love but it's been awhile since I've seen Melissa behind the camera so that piqued my curiosity too. The premise of the series is to showcase ladies that give up their ass and do hardcore action, so those of you focused solely on the backdoor will be happy to know each gal did as advertised. The scenes all had a slightly differing appeal too, largely thanks to the talents and manner in which the ladies all offered something different to the mix. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Britney Stevens, a curvy brunette with long hair and a desire to be fucked, was up first with Mick Blue and Sascha on the couch. The replayability, stroke value, and amount of fuck for the buck was sufficient to draw my attention a few times and it was clear that Melissa is learning to provide an increasingly solid effort as a director. In short, Un-Natural Sex #22 was better than Un-Natural Sex #20 for me, proving that the need for circus act sex to prop up the scenes as in the past volumes of the series was minimal; the strength of the performances sufficient to elevate the production into one worthy of your consideration.
