Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. Like a number of recent VCA releases, it looked a bit off in terms of the color and in having too much grain (usually as a result of a lighting issue) but it wasn't terrible. The audio was presented in stereo English with droning music and vocals that weren't quite mixed right but the other aspects of the show seemed pretty good. I saw no compression artifacts on the DVD transfer and there were no obvious audio dropouts either.

Body of Review: I few years back Steve Martin made a little comedy called Bowfinger, which detailed the story of a director trying to make a movie that starred Eddie Murphy. The problem was that he couldn't get Mr. Murphy to appear in his little movie, nor would he have been able to afford the popular comedian's services (although these days, a couple of bucks in spare change is probably enough). The solution he came up with was to secretly film the star going about his daily business and have his cast interact with the star on the street and in common situations. Admittedly a goofy idea but in typical porn tradition, VCA has made a porno centering on the same concept. The movie, My Secret Star, features Steve Hatcher as a director wanting to use a retired star, Nicolette, in his show. He knows that he has no chance of using her so he starts having his unknowing cast interact with her and hopes to make a movie that has her in it. The plot was fairly weak but the sex wasn't too bad so if you like the stars here, read on for a scene by scene breakdown of the action:

Scene One: Aria, a lean and sexually aggressive brunette, started off her scene by performing a strip tease dance in slow motion. The sex quickly started with Steve going down on her while she laid back on a couch. He even rimmed her a bit before she swapped places with him and started slobbing his knob. She spit on his penis and gave it a handjob along with the oral pleasuring but stopped when it looked like he was about to blow his load. She then climbed onto his lap and they screwed with her taking charge. She seemed to orgasm at least once but didn't squirt as she has elsewhere. Whew!

Scene Two: Nicolette, a curvy young gal, started off her scene in a similar fashion by prancing around a room for the camera. She also ended up having a guy (Chris) go down of her from out of nowhere and he lapped up her juices like they were the first thing he had to drink after a long march in the desert. She returned the favor by sucking him off with a hand assist until they started screwing in a few positions. He popped off on her ass and the scene wasn't bad.

Scene Three: Dru, now sporting darker hair, and Paulina, a gal I haven't seen a lot of, had a lesbian scene with vibrators and toys on a table. I think they enjoyed the licking and sticking but the scene came off as mechanical in nature for some reason. Too many fake moans didn't help and I suggest passing this scene up.

Scene Four: Angel, the curvy Black gal with the tight looking ass, teased the camera herself a bit during a strip tease dance. She got some oral attention by Benjamin while lying back on a couch. She spent more time returning the favor than he did on her before they had some boning action. It was okay and ended with a facial but the camera effects limited the heat factor a lot here.

Scene Five: Taylor, one of the most prolific performers lately and a red-hot babe as well, took on two guys, Rafe and Sergio, on a couch. She warmed them up by blowing them both and they returned the favor by using toys on both her holes, giving her a technical DP. They each took their turns plugging her, first vaginally and then in her fine ass, until Harry came in the room and wanted a piece of the pie too. Eventually, she did a real DP and seemed to get off on it almost as much as they did. They blew their loads on her face and breasts to finish this very warm scene.

Scene Six: Nicolette, getting another chance to shine as she stripped for the camera, got to work with Steve on a couch this time. She seemed the more energetic of the two with each getting some oral love before the screwing portion of the scene. He ended it with a pop shot to her chest

Summary: Director Jim Malibu has made a lot of good porn over the years but even his talent needs a fairly good budget to work to best effect. This movie seemed plagued by low budget problems as much as anything and the technical aspects weren't great, despite having some very talented crew (Shaunna McCullough, Veronica Hart, and others). I'm rating it as worthy of a Rent It although big fans of the performers will likely consider raising that a bit to accommodate their personal tastes. The extras were once again very limited and while the action wasn't bad, it was never incorporated into the story very well. It's worth a look, to be sure, but it suffered from being very close to the mark but falling short more often than I care to think about.
