Audio/Video Quality: Smut was presented in a crisp anamorphic widescreen offering as shot by director Robby D. for Digital Playground. The credited camera operators included Baka, Billy Da Kid, Bud Greene, Gaspar No, and Jamal Jhonson while hotty Kylie Ireland was in charge of the Art department and Evulatheng was listed as handling editing and special effects. As each of the scenes were shot under a wide variety of conditions it was not easy to compare them but in general, the video bitrate did not vary much and the lighting was typically solid, the camera worked varied though the scenes were framed well enough most of the time. The flesh tones were good and a decent amount of care went into making the short scenes work as standalone vignettes, a tribute to the skill of the popular director. The aural qualities were modest but presented in a post production added 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround, the elevated bit rate of 448 Kbps not hurting the ability to hear the vocals, some pretty good score pieces used by Seth Cardigan.

Body of Review: Robby D. has been an award winning director for years at Digital Playground (and even before he joined their team), his multitude of roles at the company certainly making him the most important man behind the scenes there. While I have not been given access to many of his works in recent years, outside of voting in various awards at least, the buzz has been that company cutbacks have taken their toll all too often. So I went into viewing his latest release, Smut, with a bit of trepidation, thankfully finding Robby’s spark of creativity is still alive and well in the six brief vignettes. Each vignette was self contained with a touch of story and some quick sex, the production the first new flick from the company to drop the Blu-ray disc as a bonus. I am told that this will likely become standard all too soon but frankly, short of the next “Pirates” movie (which I’m not holding my breath for), the inclusion of said high definition disc is of minimal value to most people I talk to even if I like the practice. With ladies like Missy Martinez, former Xcritic blogger Leya Falcon, and Presley Hart, there was a lot of eye candy present here even if I wanted to see more of most the gals.

Smut offers porn fans a variety of stimulating tales and an A-list cast, which also includes Missy Martinez, Brandy Aniston, Tiffany Tyler, Leya Falcon, Jordan Ash, Ryan Driller, Tyler Nixon, and Johnny Castle.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Breaking Hart: Presley Hart, playing a gun toting country gal in a plaid shirt and blue jean cutoffs, was up first after saving stranded Keiran Lee in the desert. Summary: Smut by director Robby D. for Digital Playground was a cute nod to movie making on a tight budget but the sex was usually too abbreviated for me to fully appreciate, the short scene approach losing out on tease and how many sex positions could be included so I rated this one as a Rent It. Make no mistake that there was some good fun between some of the performers but with so little time to build up any chemistry, you have to expect something to give. Fans of Brandy Aniston, Natalia Starr, Tiffany Tyler, and others may rate it higher for their own purposes, but as spank bank fodder Smut was better designed to stimulate a couple into enjoying each other more than the movie itself so check it out.
