Extras: There were trailers, a photogallery, a promotional reel, the usual spam, and a slipcover with double sided DVD cover but the three main extras were the three bonus scenes. The bonus scenes came from Switch starring Dani Daniels & Brendon Miller lasting 16:17 minutes), Foxxx N’ Soxxx starring Mia Malkova & Brad Tyler lasting 23:48 minutes), and Star Kissed starring Aaliyah Love (spelled incorrectly on the menu) & Tyler Nixon lasting 12:11 minutes.

Audio/Video Quality: Modern Romance was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Alan E. for Wicked Pictures. This is the first of Alan’s movies for the company that I’ve reviewed so I really wasn’t sure what it would bring. Wicked’s directors have long been associated with high end production quality but also features more than anything else, their efforts in the shorter story form often falling flat. The lighting and camera work (by Andre Madness and Craven Moorehead) were usually solid, often lending some atmosphere to the feature, and the editing by Zombie was decent. There was no continuous company watermark on the screen at all times so many of you will appreciate that fact, the framing and art direction not bad either. The aural components of the movie were fairly well done too, the blending of vocals, music, and minimal ambient sounds about what I expect from the company these days. I liked the music but it was not credited so I can’t promote it but suffice it to say that the overall quality of the technical aspects of the movie were above average if sometimes too stylishly done.

Body of Review: Alan E. is another new director at Wicked Pictures, the man credited with two titles to his name at this writing. His second flick I’m aware of, his first was for a rival company and completely different, is called Modern Romance, a series of sexual vignettes designed to appeal to couples for their eroticism rather than a parody or tribute to the Albert Brooks classic mainstream flick from decades ago. With hotties like Mia Malkova, Lola Foxx, Sara Luvv, and Aaliyah Love, there was definitely some solid eye candy here but my question going in was how well would this compare to the myriad of other efforts on the market along similar lines? The back of the box cover described the movie like this: “Wicked takes your senses on an erotic adventure, as we glimpse into the sexual private lives of five different couples. Beautifully shot, this cinematic treasure offers the quality and attention to detail that has become synonymous with the Wicked Name. With its awards-worthy performances, Modern Romance delivers on all fronts... come, take a peek!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Private Show: Dani Daniels, an attractive young lady with pretty eyes and a great ass, was up first rubbing one out on a lounger outside until she was joined by Michael Vegas in a tease montage. They moved inside where she put on a show for him, the man capturing her moves via his tablet as she stripped, her hairy bush somewhat excessive though he gobbled her gash readily once the music stopped. Dani put on the usual moaning and appreciated his oral efforts, slobbing his knob while applying some hand to gland action to enhance his pleasure though she rarely took more than a few inches inside her mouth. Her eye contact was intermittent this time, admittedly weakening their already tenuous physical connection, but I’d be denying reality to say she didn’t look good. I liked that she put his rubber on and started actively riding his turgid pecker though, Michael grabbing hold of her fleshy ass as she bounced, then moving to her boobs as she impaled herself on his modest member. The duo ended it after a short time when he whipped off his protection to deposit a wad of genetic juice onto her crotch, the least romantic thing they had done to this point as the baby batter mixed into her hairy snatch.

Scene Two: Body Art: Mia Malkova, the sexy blond babe featured on the front cover, was then up exercising after waking up early, donning some tight clothing as she left slacker Tyler Nixon to rest. As she displayed her flexibility in some awesome yoga positions, he walked over to help her, teasing her with an ice cube and clearly suggesting the exercise take the form of erotic aerobics given her stripping for him to reveal what I consider a first class piece of ass. Her pubes were neatly trimmed and substantially less obvious than Dani’s had been, her natural body taking to the poses in naked form really well. He came over during one of them to eat her out, licking her clitoris and labia to full effect before she reciprocated nicely. From there they engaged in a few vaginal penetrative positions, Tyler’s initial erection problems solving themselves as he tapped into her relatively passive pussy. This continued in mostly missionary type positions until he unwrapped his rascal to rub out a nut of population pudding on her crotch and lower abdomen, the modest scene again losing some of the erotic impact given the load location.

Aaliyah then showed up clothed again at his door before they made out in a shaded area on what appeared to be a set, her clothing coming off first so he could orally warm her up though she gave him some head afterwards too. Her vocals were a bit over the top and it seemed more like a performance than real chemistry but she was an active vaginal rider here, at least when she was on top of him, their spooning and missionary a lot less so of course. The ending splooge was then released in the now formulaic location, her crotch and stomach, the scene cutting out early so whatever happened to the sperm was not seen.

Scene Five: Fitness Fantasy: Lola Foxx, a very cute young lady with a winning smile, was then up in a workout montage with Erik Everhard, the couple showing some regard for each other as they engaged in a variety of physical activities to stay in shape during the upbeat music I had come to appreciate much earlier on in the show (why no credits?). They ended up stretching out in the bed room with a wall of windows allowing them to see a very pleasing view of nature, their kisses and caresses becoming increasingly sexual as his hands roamed her body. Unlike several of the others here, these two seemed more into each other by far, their oral antics moving from mouth to nipples, pussy, and then, in her case at least, his pecker as they warmed up. She had a fine little ass with a great curve to it and her bald beaver glistened with juices even before he went down on her, Erik becoming rock hard before she went down on him too. Summary: Modern Romance by director Alan E. for Wicked Pictures was on the formulaic side in terms of the sex, the light story elements carried forth without speaking during musical montages fairly well. The cast was attractive and as couples fodder the series of unrelated vignettes were not bad but it did not rise to the level I associate with the company so I rated it as a Rent It. Lola Foxx and Erik Everhard stood out as the best of the batch though Mia Malkova and Sara Luvv certainly floated my boat, all the ladies strokable to a degree even if their trysts fell short some of the time. In short, Modern Romance really did not catch and hold me as an erotic tribute to any such thing, the only awards I think it could earn in such a crowded field these days being for technical matters such as the appreciated music or the cover design though fans of the ladies will likely want a copy to complete their collections.
