Audio/Video Quality: Bad Girls 4 (SD & Blu-ray) was presented in 1.78:1 widescreen using a 1080p resolution with AVC encoding (in Blu-ray) versus the 480 resolution with MPEG-2 encoded standard definition version as shot by director Robby D. for Digital Playground. The composition of the camera angles was generally flattering to the ladies, not as fluid as some of his earlier efforts but sporting enhanced resolution likely due to the use of the Red One camera system he now relies upon so heavily these days. Thematically, the attempts to be stylish were mixed but my least favorite aspect of the show was the again-repeated abundance of extreme close-up shots, the director forgoing medium and long shots while using filters and/or gels to compensate for the resolution versus the reality of the look the ladies had here. The video bitrate varied significantly but when I spot checked it, the numbers typically kept around the 19.1 Mbps mark in high definition while the SD version came in at around 5.7 Mbps. Of note to me was how the colors seemed muted again, even on the high definition version of the movie, some soft focus moments and places where the camera seemed at a loss to capture what was most important was also evident. I also found the editing by Nick P., a man that has really managed to polish up some weak efforts in the past using his skillful talents, was able to provide a decent experience (except for the sheer amount of zoomed in camera work). The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital English with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 640 Kbps bitrate (in the Blu-ray version but 448 Kbps in standard definition), none of the vocals showing any separation though the score seemed to during the opening and closing. I did notice that some portions were substantially louder than others so be prepared with remote in hand (like most folks) to compensate, the balance off in other areas as well.

Body of Review: Robby D. is one of the best technical directors in porn, able to provide pretty much any visual experience he is told to by his producers at Digital Playground. In recent times, I've had the impression that what he was told to shoot was not always optimal to the casts he was stuck with, the result being a hit or miss experience for me that has bugged me more than most of you readers could understand. His latest movie making it my way is Bad Girls 4 (SD & Blu-ray), both versions suitable for fans of the ladies involved but lacking any of the high end contract performers almost certainly means that it was not going to be one of the better company efforts, my appreciation for Kagney Linn Karter the best of the batch here in terms of sexually heated good looks. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Carmel Moore, a busty blond Brit with way too much makeup on, was up first in bed as Scott Nails crept up on her for some loving. Summary: Bad Girls 4 (SD & Blu-ray) by director Robby D. for Digital Playground had some enthusiasm and chemistry at times but relied so heavily on one male performer that his name should have been part of the title, his lack of chemistry with half the ladies weakening the product more than the various technical issues I had so I rated it as a Rent It unless you are a devotee of more than a single performer. The high definition upgrade was better on the eyes but not enough to elevate it by comparison, the impression I had was that these were scenes shot over a period of time and tossed together on the series banner more than a directed effort. Still, the lack of decent extras was at least offset by the running time nearly twice what other flicks by the company have been offering so keep that in mind if you're interested. In short, Bad Girls 4 (SD & Blu-ray) was not a bad fuck flick but it was hardly anything special either, my observations about the specific scenes showing that none of the ladies were at their best and a few just dropped the ball too much to endear me to the project as a whole.
