The Movie:

This 1980 Diamond Films release, distributed through VCA, features a pretty stellar cast and some interesting reverse negative opening credits that sets the mood nicely as the movie begins. Directed by Carolos Tobalina (credited as Troy Benny), the man behind plenty of classic smut fests like Carnal Haven and Ultimate Pleasure, the premise for this is very simple. On a talk show called Undulations, John Holmes and Jamie Gillis are being interviewed by Mai Lin, Kitty Shayne and Suzanne French. As they talk about various sexual situation, we see them reenacted on the screen. How a show this hardcore could have shown up in the living rooms of the people we see watching (none of whom have cable from the looks of things) is beyond me, but let's suspend our disbelief for a little while, shall we? Because this one turns out to be a whole lot of fun, and with a decent amount of heat.

Scene One - Serena, A Brunette And Jamie Gillis: The opening credits play over top of Serena and a brunette, both on all fours in front of Gillis who takes turns fucking them one at a time. The girls kiss a bit as Jamie does his thing and then the brunette rolls onto her side so that Jamie can pay special attention to her as Serena tongues the action zone for the pair. Gills pulls out and blows his load on the brunettes back and Serena licks it up, ending a surprisingly hot opening scene and starting the movie off right.

Scene Two - Brooke West, Suzanna French: When this scene starts, John Holmes and Jamie Gillis are being interviewed by Mai Ling and a friend. The interview cuts to the two girls in the bedroom where they whine about how bored they are. They strip and take turns licking one another where the sun don't shine. The camera uses a kaleidoscope filter to trip us out, as the girls moan and groan as their tongues take one another to sleazy old school porno heaven.

Scene Three - Brooke West, Suzanna French And Jamie Gillis: The girls finish their thing from the last scene and make a quick phone call. Jamie Gillis shows up in a fancy disco suit, cause he's every girls fantasy (ever see Waterpower? "Suck it, you lesbian!") and they're only too happy to see him. The start making out and he gets naked so they can share his cock and give him a blowjob. They sixty-nine with him and sit on his face and then take turns riding him cowgirl style until he pulls out and blows his load.

Scene Four - Juliet Anderson And Billy Dee: John Holmes, looking dapper in a red turtleneck and some aviator shades, gives some interesting talk to the interviewers, and then we see Billy Dee walk into a room where Juliet 'Aunt Peg' Anderson (sporting a dark haired wig) is waiting for him. Scene Six - Girl And Jon Martin: The interview now goes on to discuss male prostitution. The camera pulls back and we get a good look at Holmes' baby blue bellbottoms. The new cut to the sex scene where Jon Martin flops on a bed and talks to a lady friend about his baby (a literal baby, as in an infant). For some reason, this puts them in the mood and they make out. He sucks her tits and eats her hairy muff and then she gives him head. Video:

This feature was shot on film and is presented on this DVD fullframe, which appears to be its original aspect ratio. Unfortunately the transfer is interlaced. For a movie that's roughly twenty-five years old, Dirty Girls looks alright. The colors are a little faded and there's some aliasing in some scenes and there are minor problems with the contrast but the picture is clean and clear and stable for the most part. It's far from reference quality but for an older production, it's perfectly watchable, like most of the entries in VCA's Gold Classics line.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital 2.0 sound mix is in English and is pretty standard stuff, no better, no worse. Dialogue comes through clear enough and there I didn't notice any problems as far as synching or levels are concerned. It's hardly an Earth shattering mix in any way, but it serves the film just fine and the cheesy Casio soundtrack sounds alright.

Extras:

Extras are limited to an internet link, some Hustler ads, and still menus. There isn't even a chapter selection menu supplied for the feature, and that's it. No trailers. No still gallery. Nothing. What a disappointment!

Final Thoughts:

Undulations is a good time at the dirty movies. It's funny (sometimes unintentionally so, but it still counts), sexy, and well made by the standards of the era. VCA's presentation won't really 'wow' you but it's watchable enough, if completely barebones. Fans of classic porno can definitely consider this one recommended.
