Audio/Video Quality: Bat Fuck: Dark Knight was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Nicholas Steele for Blue Bird Films. The production was released in standard definition using the usual MPEG-2 codec and 480 resolution, some of the darker scenes among the very sharpest I've seen from any porn production company to date. That said, some of the scenes looked like they relied too heavily on one or two cameras, some effects not coming across as well due to the surroundings (like the strip club orgy) or the manner in which they were shot but most of the ladies looked very nice indeed, their sexual hijinks caught fairly well considering the sheer amount of action taking place in the various orgy scenes. I saw few compression artifacts and the video bitrate seemed higher than normal with my spot checking of the double disc providing numbers around the 6.8 Mbps (give or take). There were no watermarks and the special effects were on the cheesy side, essentially perfect for this type of show. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps audio bitrate, a lot of attention being paid to properly mixing the musical score with the ambient noises and dialogue, very little (if any) looping used to fill in the gaps. Given how poorly audio is typically treated in porn, this was a breath of fresh air by comparison, the veritable team working on the production earning some accolades on all technical aspects of the show.

Body of Review: Batman XXX was one of the first recent attempts at parodying superheroes, the field littered with attempts years ago but never achieving the kind of success this one has already had thanks to a keen eye for detail in taking aspects of the campy television show and pornifying it. Well, this being the end of September, it was no surprise to me that director Nicholas Steele and Blue Bird Films tried to go one better on the mythic masked man concept, coming out with Bat Fuck: Dark Knight. This time, it wasn't the TV show that was pornified but an amalgamation of the various Batman movies, though leaning heavily on the Christian Bale/Heath Ledger release that was the mainstream roller coaster of the year when released. This time, the company altered the names of the characters and locations just a touch, Nick Manning finally getting to play the lead character opposing Paul Chaplin's "Jo-kerr" and a host of other comic book villains. Of note was the multitude of sets, scores of characters, and emphasis on orgies (most of the scenes were orgies here, love them or hate them), and the kind of tossup between the camp of the pre-Christian Bale movies versus "The Dark Knight" darkness so many fans have come to appreciate. Personally, I thought Paul Chaplin stole every scene he was in when the cast wasn't boning like crazy, Tory Lane acting every bit as silly as Uma Thurman did in "Batman & Robin", and the rest of the cast a true mix of acting talent until the clothing came off and the sexual trysts began, but Nick "dropping loads" Manning was better than expected in this darker version of the tale too.

Summary: Bat Fuck: Dark Knight by director Nicholas Steele for Blue Bird Films had all sorts of plot holes to match the sex holes so eagerly deployed in the many orgies of the show, the combining of various attributes from differing movies probably the worst idea of the lot but sexually it was interesting since so much was taking place and a few stand out performers in their non sexual performances such as Paul Chaplin as Jo-kerr and Nick Manning as "Batfuck" making it well worth leaving the remote control alone. I might question the extensive use of orgies and the lack of solid extras but the movie itself clocked in at close to four hours long on the double disc set, the sheer quantity of fuck for the buck enough to merit attention even if the quality could have used some polishing up. For me then, the movie merited a rating of Highly Recommended, surpassing any of the company's efforts to date (easily blowing "Bonny & Clide" away though I look forward to seeing "Babe Runners" since the included trailer seemed to be as lot of fun). In short, while Bat Fuck: Dark Knight was a less literal version of the caped crusader's antics than has been offered up by the competition this year, it will likely appeal to those who find the darker version more sexually appealing, some tweaking of the company pacing in their movies likely to result in a great deal of additional accolades. If you enjoy feature porn and orgies, you just cannot go wrong picking up a copy for your collection.
