Audio/Video Quality: Fetish Fuck Dolls #5 was presented in the current standard 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color by director Jake Malone for Evil Angel in the MPEG-2 codec with 480 resolution. The picture was decent and showed some improvement over a few of his recent releases by using nice lighting, solid composition of most shots (making the women look more appealing than usual), and good fleshtones; looking as technically solid as any of his peers in the Evil Angel, even stable in the portions where the lighting was decent. The bitrate it was offered in was hovering around the 3.8 Mbps range so it wasn't the best looking title of the day but still pretty decently made overall. Jake kept his rough edge and raw energy at full levels though still showing some minor improvements in his camera work and lighting. The editing was minimal but jumpy at times and the darker themes of the flick were on the grainy side but I did not see many compression artifacts or edge enhancement so those of you with larger television sets may appreciate the picture more than usual yet again. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English in 192 Kbps using a 48 kHz sampling rate and was generally well done although it wasn't anything out of the ordinary for a gonzo production. I could hear the gals moan, groan, and talk dirty so I was pleased with it but there wasn't any separation between the channels and the dynamic range wasn't all that great either.

Body of Review: Jake Malone has certainly slowed down his release of movies distributed by Evil Angel, how much of that is due to squeamish retailers and how much to piracy, I just don’t know. His latest title is called Fetish Fuck Dolls #5, the series well known for how hardcore it can be regarding the way females are allowed to explore their darker fantasies in a safe manner, typically being used and mistreated. While my own tastes in porn tend towards much less dramatically dark fare, there is always something about women empowered to let loose from their restricted roles of society, the ones that suggest it is wrong to enjoy BDSM, combining pleasure & pain, or otherwise allow others to control you. In that sense, Jake is one of the few men in porn not completely vilified for showcasing this kind of heated action, his cutback in quantity of movies an omen of how vanilla things will get without pioneers willing to push the boundaries a bit. If you are interested in this kind of thing, by all means consider Jake as one of the best current directors of this genre, the amount of passion and enthusiasm he gets out of his casts always impressing me.
