Audio/Video Quality: Diary of Love was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Jim Powers for Smash Pictures. The lighting was good in each scene, varying to meet the needs of the story rather than just applied generically as is common in adult features. The editing by Hollywood Max was well done too, the cuts made to meet the story rather than using whatever footage was given being slapped together without thought. The composition of the camera angles provided a solid mix of shots too, a lot of location shots and what appeared to be green screen effects used to propel the feature aspects of the show. The audio was presented in a standard 2.0 Dolby Digital, 192 Kbps, the musical portions of the movie were mixed with the vocals nicely, few ambient sounds provided to give the scenes depth but ambitious sound is rare in porn features these days, the overall effect of the technical qualities being that they worked at making the story work better rather than just imitate the mainstream feature the show was based on.

Body of Review: Jim Powers may well be associated with some of the nastiest hardcore smut in existence but his recent work for Smash Pictures has shown he is also well suited for making features designed for couples too. His latest title along those lines sent for review is called Diary of Love, a pornified version of the mainstream chick flick, “The Notebook”. Given the sheer number of companies releasing what amount to romance porn features of late, it is no surprise that Smash throws a hat in the ring as well, their previous efforts virtually always suitable for those not as acclimated to modern porn as much as this jaded old porn hound. Of interest here was the way the show seemed to be a showcase for lovely Presley Hart, ladies such as Kimberly Kane, Lia Lor, and Lily LaBeau also welcome additions to the movie though not as central to the production. I’m not going to ruin the entertainment value by detailing the story elements, just keep in mind that half the movie was devoted to the feature so raincoaters might not be as enthused this time. The back cover described the movie like this: “When Ally (Presley Hart) and Noah (Richie Calhoun) get together as a summer fling it quickly sprouts into true love. Unfortunately Ally's rich upper class parents feel Noah is not suitable for their daughter and immediately put the kibosh on the blossoming romance. Seven years later the two meet again and quickly realize the old flame still burns bright. Ally is now faced with the dilemma of marrying a man her family approves of or going back with her one true love.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Lily LaBeau, an attractive young lady with a body built for speed, was up first on a picnic with Logan Pierce, the couple enjoying a warm summer day in a field together. Summary: Diary of Love by director Jim Powers for Smash Pictures was a pleasant little feature based on a chick flick (“The Notebook”) that I endured quite some time back. Noting that any porno is going to reflect the budgets given and all the other aspects of modern porn, this was definitely an entertaining piece of work. Presley Hart was cute enough for the role but left me hanging too much when it came to the action, the feature elements of the movie certainly more central to the experience this time than in most such releases. I rated it as a very respectable Recommended based at least as much on the feature aspects of the movie as the sexual trysts, a few small touches needed to make the show work as well as it could compared to similar efforts by the competition. In short, Diary of Love should appeal to couples wanting more than a few bridging feature scenes hooking the sex together, the story helping make some of the sex work better. For those in the market for passionate pounding and harder action, you can find better at the company but give this one a look all the same for some fun times.
