Audio/Video Quality: Lia’s Life was presented in a 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec in 480 resolution for this DVD. The flick was shot in 1080i/60 high definition awhile back, though presented in the SD format in a short feature playing off his skills best. The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore their sexuality. The composition of the camera angles was almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible, the minor grain not bothering me nearly as much as it could have in less capable hands. The fleshtones were usually accurate too and the DVD mastering was well done (the bitrate hovering around 4.0 Mbps), even if the lighting was off at times (the company watermark will be bothersome to some out there but only some given its location). At times there appeared to be multiple cameras used on some scenes, the equipment not matched up so the edits were more readily apparent, a soft haze included at times that I could not quite explain. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 256 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. The aural qualities of the movie appeared to offer very limited separation and dynamic range, the vocals easily heard in most cases and mixed in with the ambient noises fairly well.

Body of Review: B. Skow is currently one of my favorite directors, his body of work over at Vivid Entertainment among the best they have ever seen. His latest title is a showcase effort starring former contract cutie Lia 19 called Lia’s Life, a look at a day in her working life when she was at Vivid. While I had my doubts that this would be my favorite work of theirs, Lia was in three scenes, two of them with men and another solo outing. Lia is attractive enough to pull off one of these flicks but given her immense body of work on her website, I’m not sure if even a lengthy movie like this will float my boat but I gave it a try. Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Lia, wearing some loose lingerie and a thong wedging up her crotch, was up first in a solo masturbation scene; discussing with Skow about how quickly she can get ready for a scene. Unlike the lipstick lesbian action most such shows provide, I got the impression that all of the scenes had women into other women, just some a bit more star struck than others if you catch my drift. In terms of enjoyable pairings though, I found this one to be my favorite of the movie due to the way the ladies showed such chemistry and attention to one another, the caresses and kisses dominating the early parts of the show before they started going down on each other. Surprisingly, Lia was the only one getting the large pink vibrator shoved up her pussy in doggy style, giving me the impression that more footage must exist out there somewhere.

Summary: Lia’s Life by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment might not have lived up to the previous three volumes in the “Life” series but it wasn’t bad either, meriting a rating of Recommended based not only on the appeal of Lia but the rest of the cast as well, Mason Moore, Katie Kox, and MacKenzee Pierce all contributing to the replay value and strokability. In short, Lia’s Life might have been a scripted day in her life at Vivid but it was still full of the kind of fun factor Vivid has been applying in copious quantities in increasing amounts of late, presumably helping keep them competitive in tough economic times so check it out.
