Extras: The best extra was the 12:10 minute long bonus scene between Zoe Britton and Jasmine Deletori shot on 11/20/2009 for this movie. The gals had fun and seemed into each other but it was decidedly shorter in length than most of the scenes in the movie itself. The 28:46 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Mike "Josh" Maravich was better for fans of Lia though, the gal making sure the crew documented her exploits extensively though the majority of the footage was interview material Lia gave them. There was a photogallery, a set of four trailers, some spam, and yes, even some position menu material (screen capture provided for the haters); the BTS itself uncredited on the cover so it served as a bonus.

Audio/Video Quality: Lia's First Time was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec in 480 resolution. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in 1080i/60 high definition earlier this year, though presented in the SD format (for now). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore their sexuality. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible, T-Bird Meadows editing the raw footage to polish up the end result. The fleshtones were accurate and the DVD mastering was well done (the bitrate hovering around 4.4 Mbps), making it a decent in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average though the company watermark will be bothersome to many out there. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 256 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. The aural qualities of the movie appeared to offer some separation and increased dynamic range, the vocals easily heard and mixed in with the ambient noises as well as music.

Body of Review: B. Skow is the only director currently employed under contract by Vivid Entertainment these days and both parties have benefitted from the union in my estimation. Skow has helped walk the company into the 21st century and greatly enhanced their sex scenes as well as production values, his "back to basics" approach a breath of fresh air at enhancing the look of the current stable of contract ladies the company also employs at any given time. His latest title making it my way is in the form of Lia's First Time, highlighting the popular internet performer, Lia 19, in a way her usual crew just couldn't match. The young lady is in four scenes altogether, one of them a solo masturbation outing but the others with suitable women, the entire show being for those enjoying gals with other gals sexually. My own exposure to Lia 19 has been minimal other than my voting for her in a few award presentations but she is definitely an interesting choice for Vivid to hire given her longstanding devotion to solo activities. That said, if anyone can make her look her best for the company, Skow is the one to do it so while I greatly prefer ladies that aren't as sexually limited, I took some interest in seeing what would happen with this pairing. The back cover described the production like this: "She's the first new Vivid Girl with a million hits! Lia, from lia19.com, one of the most visited solo sites on the web, is doing her first hardcore lesbian scenes! She's with her favorite, all-natural, fresh, young girlfriends, and guess what? They brought toys! Watch Lia get down 19 ways from Sunday, in this B. Skow sex-crazed pussy fest!" Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Lia, the cute young lady featured on the front cover, was up first wearing a plaid shirt and white bikini undies in a pink room on a mattress. The soft music was a bit too much like a romantic comedy from the 60's but Lia seemed to have fun masturbating once she showed off, her physical appeal different from when she first started her website but still present in droves. I would have enjoyed her providing a stream of dirty talk instead of the tunes but they gave way to her pocket rocket once she decided to get off in earnest. Her juicy fingers seemed to prove she got off too but it was hardly a full scene even if attractive Lia was highlighted.

Scene Two: Lia, next up in the same location with sexy Sadie West, showed her love of pussy as she went down on the popular gal. This time, Sadie looked a bit worn but Lia fared well by comparison, Lia focusing her attention on Sadie while Sadie focused mainly on the camera. As the scene progressed, Sadie went from showing herself off to allowing Lia to finger and eat her, eventually sharing her attention with Lia and the camera as she shoved fingers in the gal's snatch. Lia was too quiet for my tastes but her nipple erections spoke volumes as to how much she appreciated the oral and manual skills of Sadie, the ladies trading places a few times to do one another before it all ended (some toys included). The lack of genetic juice did not harm the scene at all though it gave me the impression that they went in cold on one another, little warm up allowing for a more polished scene.

Scene Three: Ashlyn Rae and Tiffany Star, a couple of darker haired gal with lean figures and sexy lingerie on, were up next in bed as they savored the experience of playing together for the benefit of the camera. Their movements were slow and seductive; light caresses giving way to erotic kisses and various clitoral manipulations. The gals paid too much attention to the camera for large portions of the show but during the times when their concentration was diverted by particularly heated sex, the scene provided some solid stroke value, perhaps not on the level of Lia but certainly decent enough to keep handy for the occasional hand to gland needs men have.

Scene Four: Lia and Brynn Tyler were up next, reclining naked on a black tabletop as they used vibrators to get off. At first, it struck me that they were having a contest of sorts to see who could leave a puddle fastest but as they relaxed more, the pair paid more attention to one another than the camera following their every move. For me, the best action this time was when Lia laid back and asked Brynn to fuck her with the vibrator, her orgasm satisfying to watch even if I wanted to see more of them paired off together.

Scene Five: Heather Carolin and Chloe James, another pair of darker haired hotties with fine bodies, were up next on a purple patterned couch as they showcased themselves seductively. There was a significant amount of overacting here and the ladies reminded me of house strippers on the generic "bad side of town" but frankly, they appeared less interested in the camera than each other; a dynamic I liked a lot. The plunging purple jelly dildo (then black dildo) was put to use on both of them and no population pudding was encountered here but aside from some minor aural issues with the synchronization, I'd like to see more of these two with each other as well.

Scene Six: Lia and Taylor Vixen, both wearing what looked like bridesmaid dresses, then finished the movie up with some solo action punctuated by their getting together for some lesbian frolicking. Unlike the lipstick lesbian action most such shows provide, I got the impression that all of the scenes had women into other women, just some a bit more star struck than others if you catch my drift. In terms of enjoyable pairings though, I found this one to be my favorite of the movie due to the way the ladies showed such chemistry and attention to one another, the caresses and kisses dominating the early parts of the show before they started going down on each other. Surprisingly, Lia was the only one getting the large pink vibrator shoved up her pussy in doggy style, giving me the impression that more footage must exist out there somewhere.

Summary: Lia's First Time by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment was unlike any lesbian outing by the company I can remember in that it appeared to use women into other women exclusively, forgoing the generic action in favor of whatever worked for them at the time. This meant, of course, that the scenes were inherently inconsistent compared to the largely formula driven smut I'm used to but I couldn't dent Lia's appeal propelling the movie enough to make it worth a rating of Recommended. In short, I might not want all my porn to emulate shows like Lia's First Time but it certainly served as a fine showcase for fans of Lia doing something off the beaten track, her solo work at her website always worth a look too. Give this one a look if you want to see how Vivid is trying new things, Lia bringing something decidedly different to the company that could work out if this was any indicator.
