Extras: The best extra was the short 10:07 minute long Behind the Scenes feature credited to T. Baggs, shot by Shay Jordan & Crew, and edited by "Dork". There was not much of Lacie in the feature and given the way she was labeled as a "butterface" (as was Shay by the end, her displeasure showing about something left in at the very end), I'm half surprised she was kept as the thematic lead but it had some cute moments, particularly between Scott and Robby. There was also a pop shot recap, a slide show with photogallery, and trailers to movies like Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge, Pirates I, Island Fever 4, Deeper 10, Cheerleaders, Katsuni: Video Nasty, Jana Cova in Blue, and Jack's Teen America 18.

Audio/Video Quality: Sexual Freak 9 was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as envisioned by director Celeste for Digital Playground in the usual MPEG-2 codec reserved for standard definition releases. The high end equipment and skilled crew of regulars assisted director of photography Robby to make this release look really sharp; losing the artistic style that doesn't always work so well for me. In fact, the technical matters showed Robby's influence serving nicely to ground the scenes with less of the arty farty filters and effects that the director sometimes uses. The lighting was generally solid here, reducing the grain, video noise, and other defects that sometimes arise in making porn on a budget; favoring a clear focus in some cases that I was convinced worked very well. The way the scenes were shot and edited was markedly similar in the scenes; the composition favoring the ladies and looking like Robby had no constraints this time. Sidney Michaels was the editor and together with some of the post production effects added in, added the kind of visual texture that made the release stand out from some of Celeste's other works (in a good way though). The DVD mastering revealing no compression artifacts; with the bitrate for the visuals hovering around the mid 6.5 Mbps this time with few flaws but not as low in resolution as previous efforts in related showcase efforts. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English using a 448 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate; over twice that of most porn made these days, with a minimalist leaning that seemed unique in most ways to productions outside of the Jack series, with the vocals always dominating the audio track as I like it. There wasn't much separation between the channels, if any outside of the intermittent music, but the ladies were always clearly heard here.

Body of Review: Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge may be the current best selling title at Digital Playground (and I suspect this will be the case for at least a few years too!) but not everybody gets into blockbuster porn, no matter how good it might be so it comes as no surprise that director Celeste continues to march forward to her own beat of the drum by releasing titles such as the upcoming Sexual Freak 9 (Lacie Heart). Like the other titles in the popular series, this one showcases a particular beauty, in this case the head hotty in charge being Lacie Heart (with some nice backup by perky Shay Jordan). The scenes were not designed to appease the hardcore raincoaters crowd either but serve as either erotic flavored pretty porn that couples can enjoy together or simply as the kind of smut fans of the cast should find strokable. Without special effects, big budgets, or even a huge production crew, some of you might ask how this one fared so I broke the scenes down briefly to give all of you a heads up as to what you can expect. The company website said it like this: "Lacie: Sexual Freak is a visual palette of equally sexy, erotic and naughty delights. Here's my brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Shay Jordan, dressed in sexy black lingerie as she taunted tied up Scott Nails (who looked like a character from the upcoming Watchmen movie out next year), dominated him with some verbal abuse in the bathroom.
