Extras: The best extra was a 34:42 minute long Behind the Scenes feature where most of the performers were interviewed naked or in lingerie. They gave the usual basic biography information and where they can be found, making it fun considering there were so many newcomers. There was also a photogallery, trailers, spam, and company info (spelling “company” incorrectly) but the BTS added value to the production.

Audio/Video Quality: The Beautiful Solo 2 was presented in a crisp anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Paul Woodcrest for New Sensations. Yes, the front cover was again wrong, Paul in charge here rather than his talented colleague, the lighting, editing, and camera work all certainly looking like either director could have been in charge with the other on assist. As a result, this was one of the best looking solo endeavors I’ve seen in a very long time, forgoing the arty farty way of shooting such a set of seven scenes in favor of a straightforward allowing the women to get off using some of the NS Novelty line (which I have not personally reviewed recently). The aural components were similar if less obvious, the 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo production including some light music at times and an emphasis on the vocals of the ladies to contribute to the emotive impact their solo scenes had in most cases.

Body of Review: Paul Woodcrest is one of the production team at New Sensations that contributes on many movies yet gets far less attention than his peers. This is not always a bad thing on the times when assigned a production with all sorts of problems but it also limits the accolades when things go well too. His latest venture sent to me for review is called The Beautiful Solo 2, a set of seven female masturbation scenes where most of them use their hand and toys from the award winning NS Novelties line in order to get off, the Sybian included on occasion. While the front cover credited Eddie Powell, the tour de force behind so many great titles, Paul’s minimalist efforts were appreciated here, the use of a largely newcomer cast helping make it stand out as much as the excellent production values. Having recently looked at a low cost competitor’s title along the same lines (Aura Production’s “Playing With Myself”), I can tell you right away that there was a night and day difference between them even if the concept was markedly similar. The back cover described the movie like this: “Tonight, these ladies are flying solo! Join Keisha Grey, Lilly Evans, Dee Dee Lynn, Carter Cruise, and more beautiful girls in 7 all-new scenes of sweet female masturbation. Get ready to indulge in the art of self-pleasure, and see what it takes to create a beautiful solo.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Carter Cruise, a pretty blond with pretty blue eyes and a lean body, was up first by the fireplace stripping slowly, smiling at the camera as she caressed herself. Summary: The Beautiful Solo 2 by director Paul Woodcrest for New Sensations had a great deal of replay value and strokability for me thanks to the use of a cast not shoot out simply allowed to have fun on their own, some superb technical values, and even the lengthy BTS where the ladies had ample chance to extol their porn personas so well. Busty Keisha Grey from the front cover stood out for me as did hotty Carter Cruise, Natasha Voya, and others, my belief that The Beautiful Solo 2 merited a rating of Highly Recommended. Unlike some who give high ratings to just about anything these days, I have long held that reviewers are not doing anyone any favors by doing so, but this solo effort gave the wonderful cast plenty of time to get off for real, do so in a largely believable fashion in almost all cases, and was consistently better than similar titles released by other companies so hat’s off to Paul and whomever he had helping him as it came together extremely well this time so I expect to see this again around award time.
