Audio/Video Quality: Super Whores 13 was presented in an anamorphic widescreen at 1.78:1 as shot by director Tina Tyler for Mercenary Pictures for this MPEG-2 encoded, 480i resolution, effort. While I don't get to see many movies from the company these days (mainly ones I'm voting for or against in different award shows), it is good that the company finally made the transition to anamorphic widescreen and will be even better when the learning curve of such productions is beyond the beginning point. There were plenty of soft focus moments, lots of issues with lighting (be it outside lighting uncompensated for, no C-light to illuminate the action, flare ups, or not enough of it to avoid grain), and edits that were abrupt & out of place but the raw energy of the better scenes was kept intact so even the lack of technical expertise did not kill the movie for me. The show appears to have been captured by a single fluidly moving camera (with all the tradeoffs associated with that choice), the camera itself appearing to have less resolution, especially under lower lighting circumstances, but small enough for Tina to handle. The video bitrate varied substantially but when I spot checked it, the results showed to be in the 4.8 Mbps area a lot (sometimes higher, sometimes lower). The audio was presented in the standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 192 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate. The vocals were generally easily heard, the director appearing to use the microphone attached to the camera and sticking close to them, sacrificing the medium and long shots to do so but the aural qualities of the voices were okay. There was no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was minimal but my biggest complaint was the inclusion of an ongoing, generic music track in the background (it got better with time as I learned to tune it out).

Body of Review: Tina Tyler was long one of those performers that appealed to a variety of marketing niches on the fringe of mainstream porn; the gal embracing BDSM, bisexual males, and Goth before the term "alt-porn" was ever used. She fared well in features that used her acting abilities too, finding less work before the MILF craze hit (even then, her lean figure and milky white skin not truly catering to the genre), but she went to directing before her recent comeback to performing, finding a home at Mercenary Pictures after a series of bumpy job changes. In the time she has worked for the company, her technical skills have grown and she always had an eye for shooting the better angles so I was happy to receive Super Whores 13 after a long hiatus from the series (the last one I reviewed was Super Whores 8 over two years ago). The theme of the series is to provide the best women in the industry that do interracial with enthusiasm, usually pairing them up with the biggest men that work for the company such as Lexington Steele himself, often with interesting results. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Luscious Lopez, the curvy Latina featured on the left hand side of the front cover, was up first as she reviewed an old scene with Lexington Steele (who was too cheap to replace his broken DVD player), Marco Banderas joining in for the sex. The lack of tease was bothersome since I like seeing as much as possible but the manner in which Luscious sucked them off aggressively was pretty smoking hot. They gave her some licks too but were more interested in penetrating her pussy as she alternated between them with her mouth and biscuit. She did get too loud at times but the general impression I had for the scene was favorable, the quality of stud almost equal to the quality of our lady here. Scene Two: Claire Dames, a curvy brunette with a dirty mouth, was up next as she provided some dirty talk while being pawed by Mr. Marcus and CJ Wright. Summary: Super Whores 13 by director Tina Tyler for Mercenary Pictures really only had a couple of women earning the designation "Super Whore" here and they were Luscious Lopez and Katja Kassin (a few of the others have done so in the past elsewhere though) but it was a decent fuck flick with some rough technical edges that were largely overcome by the heat of the scenes so I rated it as Recommended. In short, Super Whores 13 showed the series has improved with time and Tina has become an even better director than before, no surprise to those who know the lady, making this movie well worth checking out.
