Audio/Video Quality: Official Friday the 13th Parody was presented in a visually appealing anamorphic widescreen color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Gary Orona for Zero Tolerance using the MPEG-2 codec employed by standard definition releases with a 480 resolution. The lighting was strong, eliminating the shadows and grain I dislike so much, the overall look of the show was surprisingly strong for a director with limited titles under his belt. The bitrate tended to hover around the mid 5.1 Mbps area most of the time I paid any attention to it, the composition of the camera angles typically optimal for the ladies but always managing to keep the feature aspects in mind. The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, this particular cast able to handle the solid lighting quite well. The sole audio track was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps rate using a 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural experience fairly limited but much like the gonzo titles the company is known for, just upgraded with ambient noises to flesh out the aural experience. There was also no separation between the channels but the dynamic range was a lot better than usual. The voices could be clearly heard with the balance between those and the music nicely handled, the ambient effects also mixed in properly.

Body of Review: Gary Orona is best known for his work on late night cable television shows and marrying Tabitha Stevens a few years ago, the folks at Zero Tolerance deciding to bring him aboard to continue their exploration of the porn parody market. His latest release in that area is called the Official Friday the 13th Parody, the movie touted as a case where “Jason could get lucky” by some in the field. Unlike the parodies that spoof and goof on the target matter, Gary played this one with a bit of an edge to it, some violence and gore mixed in with the usual sexual exploits to bring a different kind of adult entertainment experience to the masses. Unlike his work for HBO, there was explicit sex too so there should be no worries regarding this being a “skinemax” venture, hotties like Kagney Linn Karter, Asa Akira, Brooke Lee Adams, Courtney Cummz, and Sarah Vandella, all getting some screen time. The back cover described the movie like this: “When Susie arrives at Crystal Lake Nudist Camp to be the resident masseuse, she meets the randy young camp owner Kyle who can't wait to get an orgy going with his nymphomaniac staff and guests. But when people start inexplicably disappearing, Susie and Kyle are forced to fight for survival, coming face to face with the flesh eating semen of the legendary Jason himself!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Summary: Official Friday the 13th Parody by director Gary Orona for Zero Tolerance had more emphasis on the story elements than the sexual escapades of the wonderful cast but it worked more often than not as an entertaining feature. I had the impression that the director was trying hard to bridge the hardcore elements with his usual light feature fare, the result being a title I can feel comfortable suggesting as Recommended or better, depending on what you are looking for. Make no mistake about it though, both the hardcore sex and the story mattered here, at least as much as story ever matters in a horror flick, so this was hardly the disposable gonzo porn most of the world is used to. In short, Official Friday the 13th Parody was fun and followed the fear angle much better than expected, the parody coming across as more of an adult tribute than a true parody, consider this one for your collection if you are into both genres.
