Audio/Video Quality: Katwoman XXX was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Nicholas Steele for Blue Bird Films. The production was released in standard definition using the usual MPEG-2 codec and 480 resolution, some of the darker scenes among the very sharpest I’ve seen from any porn production company to date. Darrell Van Dimes was in charge of editing and visual effects, I saw few compression artifacts and the video bitrate seemed higher than normal with my spot checking of the disc providing numbers around the 5.4 Mbps. There were no watermarks and the special effects were on the cheesy side, essentially perfect for this type of show. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps audio bitrate, some attention being paid to properly mixing the musical score with the ambient noises and dialogue, no apparent looping used to fill in the gaps. While not the very best audio performance the company has had to offer in recent times, it was an upgrade over most feature productions from competitors and above average overall.

Body of Review: Blue Bird Films literally came out of nowhere last year thanks to a movie by director Nicholas Steele involving a certain caped crusader, the flick singlehandedly winning over scores of parody genre fans. The funny thing is, a lot of their other movies were good too, the company spreading out the budgets more this year among projects but still offering a fun sequel in the form of Katwoman XXX. I know there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the movie and this has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year, the idea of superhero porn surely working for a number of people not typically given to watching a lot of porn. In this case, the company owner (and lead male star) Paul Chaplin wrote it and included nods to a variety of other costumed crusaders, the emphasis this time on busty babes such as Kagney Linn Karter as a generic Supergirl, Jennifer Dark as a similarly themed Wonder Woman, and the lead character played but sexy Dylan Ryder. I will state up front that this was only a single disc title sporting limited extras but it was a nice addition to the subgenre of superhero parody porn, the story having nothing to do with the mainstream “Catwoman” fiasco Hollywood churned out several years back.

Scene One: Dylan Ryder, the lean brunette featured on the front cover in her “Katwoman” costume, green haired Gemma “Jokette” Massey (seen on the upper left hand corner of the cover), and Paul Chaplin reprising his role from the original parody, were up first in the asylum, Dylan needing some help with a project. Paul’s acting was head and shoulders above the others but he had the easier role, the sexual aspects covered better by the ladies. Once the introductions were had, there was some lesbian action where both ladies stayed in their outfits, Dylan’s big boobs getting as much attention as Gemma’s sweetly curved ass. The ladies then very briefly slobbed his knob, Paul boning them vaginally in turns. There was a lot of dirty talk and taste testing, the editing a bit too quick but the abundance of medium shots (as opposed to the vastly over used close ups elsewhere) helping to keep things in context. The ladies were active riders and seemed to enjoy themselves too, their physical connection to their partners making it a strokable scene, the action ending when Paul beat out a round of genetic juice to their faces for cumswapping.

Scene Two: Jennifer Dark, Anna Lovato, Andy San Dimas, Dale DaBone, and a masked, uncredited mope were up next in a museum. Jennifer played a Wonder Woman character, Anna reprising her role from the original flick, and the others tossed in for good measure. Like the orgies from the first flick, the partners swapped around a bit and there was a fair amount of modest lesbian action just as the basics of blowjobs and vaginal fucking were included at length. Kagney played a super sexy parody version of Supergirl, the villain apparently ready for that contingency as he warped the minds of all three hotties to bend to his will. Summary: Katwoman XXX by director Nicholas Steele for Blue Bird Films was only slightly related to the company’s breakthrough hit from last year, also having no resemblance (thankfully!) to the horrid mainstream Catwoman movie starring Halle Berry from a number of years ago. It’s been said that the movie provided a lot of elements that did not quite jibe together and were never fleshed out as properly as they could (or should) have been, the disjointed story elements such that it was all over the map thematically. Frankly, there is a lot of truth in that assessment but that could be said of almost all porn (features or not), the overall fantasy elements handled well enough for prolonged strokability and replay value, the fun factor quotient certainly as solid as most other releases in the superhero parody genre. As such, I think it earned a qualified rating of Highly Recommended given the factors addressed, Dylan Ryder looking hot as the lead role, Kagney Linn Karter a super looking “Super Chick”, and Jennifer Dark as a very sexy “Wonder Chick” worth busting out the junk for spanking. On that note, Gemma Massey was a decidedly cute “Jokette” and Paul Chaplin again came across as the perfect parody version of the Heath Ledger version of Joker (spelling slightly altered as the company does), the technical aspects were well done, and the opportunities for tighter sequels abound thanks to the way everything but the kitchen sink was tossed in here. In short, don’t miss Katwoman XXX if you have even the slightest attraction to women, find parody porn (particularly in the superhero genre) enjoyable, and want some hardcore entertainment with a comic book leaning.
