Extras: The best extra was the 12:28 minute long set of stripteases as advertised on the back cover. Not all of the ladies did one and they were too short but I enjoyed them all the same. Once Again, the next best extra was the 6:20 minute long Behind the Scenes feature in the form of an "interview" with Kagney Linn Karter. It gave some minor insights regarding the show but I would have appreciated a true BTS even more. There was also a photogallery and cumshot recap, a number of trailers tossed in too (with the case covered by a slipcover mirroring the front and back covers).

Audio/Video Quality: Kagney Linn Karter: Superhero Sex Therapist was presented in a visually appealing anamorphic widescreen color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Mike Quasar for Third Degree using the MPEG-2 codec employed by standard definition releases with a 480i resolution. The lighting was strong, eliminating the shadows and grain like most of Mike's works in the past, the overall look straightforward even with a minimal nod to soft focus a few times. The grain was minimal as was the video noise and I commend the company for upgrading to some high end cameras awhile back, Mike ensuring that Kagney looked her best in all situations. The bitrate tended to hover around the 5.2 Mbps mark most of the time I paid any attention to it (but the numbers alone do not tell the whole story in this regard). The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, each of them finding Mike's technical expertise matching the right look to make them look their best. The sole audio track was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using a 256 Kbps rate with the 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural experience fairly limited due to the nature of the gonzo shoot. There was also no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was as truncated as ever, standard gonzo audio being okay for most consumers, Mike heard a couple of times in the background (most noticeably during the kissing portion of the last scene).

Body of Review: Mike Quasar is not just a director for Third Degree but a part time comedian as well. While most of his humor derives from his drinking habits or his wife (or how he drinks because of his wife), he has long been one of the funniest social commentators in the porn industry as well. This makes him the perfect choice to director oddball porn comedies such as Kagney Linn Karter: Superhero Sex Therapist, a set of five scenes with couples needing a little help in the bedroom by the titular heroine. The catchy title aside, Kagney is one of the hottest ladies in porn these days so having her participate in most of the scenes made sense, the thinly veiled excuse allowing for a bit of silly humor to be employed to help mask that the setups were otherwise kind of flimsy (but this is porn and most people consider dialogue to be fast forward fodder; a term coined by Mike years ago). Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Sara Sloane with Anthony Rosano

Scene One: Kagney Linn Karter, the blond babe on the front cover, was up first as a sex therapist teaching Ashli Orion the basics of sex, initially blowing Rocco Reed in bed. Kagney took off her suitcoat to allow her opened white shirt give a glimpse of her half-bra held tits. Ashli kept looking at the camera but was otherwise pretty decent at giving head too, just not on Kagney's level of expertise. The knob slobbing by both ladies resulted in them taking their clothing off (Ashli wearing pink shorts and a blue top) and turning the tables on Rocco, the man going down on them with Kagney enjoying it a lot more. The trio then went through a series of vaginal penetrations, the teaching effort getting less lip service as time went on. Kagney's advice was for him to show Raquel that he was a man, advice many have probably given him since his entry into the industry. He took it and it turned Raquel on, her neon blue corset enhancing her looks as they kissed, James going down on her at length while Kagney spewed generic advice to both of them. It was generally a softer scene all around but the trio shared some chemistry together, the long slow licks helping them get off.

Summary: Kagney Linn Karter: Superhero Sex Therapist by director Mike Quasar for Third Degree had just enough comedic dialogue to work as something other than a gonzo fuck flick, the sexual interactions in the movie occasionally held back by a lack of chemistry between the performers. Kagney herself showed some potential for comedy and I hope others exploit it more thoroughly but the strokability and replay value earned the effort a rating of Recommended all the same. In short, Kagney Linn Karter: Superhero Sex Therapist one upped several previous "sex therapist" titles I've reviewed in the past not just thanks to the lead hotty but also due to the manner in which the action took place, the technical qualities of the show shining by comparison to those "wannabe" efforts so check it out.
