Audio/Video Quality: Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody was presented in the now standard 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by credited director Dawn for Daring Media Group, this standard definition version offered up in the MPEG-1 codec. The scenes were loosely tied together using John Strong’s voice as “Yuri” a Russian expatriate looking to score some money via interaction with the rest of the cast, the themes from the popular videogame series not really catered to all that well otherwise. Still, unlike some major companies the scenes did not rely almost exclusively on close up shots, a lot more medium to long shots used to showcase the sexual encounters (depending on your personal tastes, this will be either good or bad). I liked the way it put the trysts in context better though the camerawork was also a bit on the fly in terms of pans and zooming in a haphazard manner at times. The fleshtones were otherwise accurate and the compositions favored the ladies much of the time, few visual elements including grain or other problems thanks to the flat lighting and use of outdoor locations in some of the scenes. The editing by “Stee” was fair just as the camerawork by “Kovacs G.” was okay, both typically contributing something to the end result. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps bitrate, a fitting amount of space used to compliment the 4.7 Mbps video bitrate (when spot checked) though some of the dubs were on the hollow side as if emulating the videogame aurally as well. The voices were clear though and the limited musical scores about right for the material, no great strides towards the use of sonic capabilities but no major issues arising either.

Body of Review: Daring Media Group is a company based in the Netherlands that I have experienced mostly via voting for different awards since they are not exactly very prolific (nor do they send out a whole lot of screener copies to review). Their typical movies usually rely heavily on beautiful ladies and limited vignette styled presentation, minimizing the fast forward fodder indicative of most domestic projects by comparison. As a result, my first review of their newest movie, a parody called Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody, is of a genre new to the company but one I am well versed in. In general, the concept comes from a popular videogame series alternatively bashed for encouraging antisocial behavior and praised for its creative way of using stereotypes where points are garnered for committing criminal acts. The movie takes a different approach in that it does not showcase a lot of this behavior so much as lightly provide a reason for the otherwise random sex acts (all of them oral and vaginal vanilla trysts). Tying the “missions” together is lead character Yuri played by John Strong, the role perfectly suited for the Russian performer as his accent worked for him this time instead of against his efforts. The cover described the movie like this: “For the first time in history Daring! brings a legendary game to life! Backdoor beauties, sweltering rooftops, skanky junkyards shot in the shimmering heat of the valley. Yuri has to face 5 challenging missions involving 5 nasty hot gals . . . nothing is impossible in the world of GTA, nice cars, fancy places and only one rule - "breaking" bones." In short, Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody was a good first step by the company into the popular parody market and showed some care with a handful of elements, John Strong adding something thanks to his portrayal of the popular lead character. This one may not overwhelm you at first but even as a set of generic sex scenes, it had some spank bank potential worthy of discussion, so check it out if you enjoy the cast.
