Extras: The 3:51 minute long Behind the Scenes feature was the best extra but there really wasn’t much footage to appreciate this time; Ivan playing around from behind the camera with material taken from a couple of productions. There was also a photogallery, some spam, and trailers for those that care.

Audio/Video Quality: Solo Sweethearts was presented in an interestingly shot 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color by director Ivan for Tom Byron Pictures in the MPEG-2 codec with 480p resolution. The lighting was such that the scenes looked good across the board, reducing any related issues such as grain or mosquito noise drastically over cheaper porn. The composition of the camera angles showed the ladies having fun, capturing the heat of the gals masturbating in a very simple yet elegant manner. The video bitrate on this MPEG-2 version was in the 7.3 Mbps most of the time I paid it any attention, the movie looking better than the first volume in the series. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital using the 192 Kbps bitrate (with optional music) and 48 kHz sampling rate expected of the project. The music was subdued and not intrusive at all while the vocals were not a factor given the type of movie this was.

Body of Review: Ivan is a talented director whose work you’ve probably seen in dozens of different places, his main studio these days seemingly Tom Byron Pictures. The talented man is known far and wide for his ability to capture a lot of the fun factor many of his peers miss, his casting also renowned as superior by those in the know. Well, if you have watched much of the work by the fellow in recent years, than a look at Solo Sweethearts will be like a walk down memory lane (or is that “mammary lane”?!?) because the multitude of “scenes” appeared to be clips of the ladies masturbating before their actual sexual encounters, taken from a wide variety of movies. The ladies in order were Preston, Allie Haze, Monicka Jaymes, Tegan Summers, Elena Heiress, Bella Moretti, Nika Noir, Katie Kox, Bobbi Starr, Clair Dames, Jessica Lynn, Tory Lane, Flower Tucci, Emy Reyes, Trina Michaels, Jesse Jordan, Sindee Jennings, Taylor Starr, Jessica Bangkok, Phoenix Marie, Nikki Sexx, Courtney Page, Lizz Taylor, Gracie Glam, Charley Chase, and sexy cover gal Jynx Maze; all of them offering some stroke value though most of them not given enough time to rub one out completely. Of special interest to me was the cover advertising “14 scenes, 18 Girls” yet the opening credits said “22 scenes, 26 Girls”, clearly a disconnect taking place somewhere in the production process.

All of the ladies looked good masturbating and none of them had to worry about genetic juice or population pudding coating their faces or other body parts but I had the distinct impression that the scenes were just clips from full scenes (perhaps shot at the same time or not) of other productions. When it comes to a movie filled with such talent as Jynx Maze, Chanel Preston, Gracie Glam, and scores of others (in order, the cast list is as follows: Preston, Allie Haze, Monicka Jaymes, Tegan Summers, Elena Heiress, Bella Moretti, Nika Noir, Katie Kox, Bobbi Starr, Clair Dames, Jessica Lynn, Tory Lane, Flower Tucci, Emy Reyes, Trina Michaels, Jesse Jordan, Sindee Jennings, Taylor Starr, Jessica Bangkok, Phoenix Marie, Nikki Sexx, Courtney Page, Lizz Taylor, Gracie Glam, Charley Chase, Jynx Maze), would it really hurt to clarify the background of the scenes (again, my take is that these clips were either part of longer, fuller scenes or shot concurrently with such scenes)?

That said, there was definitely a lot to like with each selection of gash going at it, the ladies looking fine and even some that I haven’t seen perform in years working themselves over for their personal enjoyment. I’m not going to suggest they were all equally impressive, Jynx Maze, Trina Michaels, Gracie Glam, Phoenix Marie, and of course Chanel Preston, standing out as highly strokable, replay filled solo sessions but with such short running times for each of them, it left me wanting a lot more. I like solo scenes a lot and they seem fitting considering the whole concept of porn is to get yourself off with a little inspiration, I just prefer to have somewhat longer solo scenes to help me work my own magic if you catch my drift.

Summary: Solo Sweethearts by director Ivan for Tom Byron Pictures provided a basic sexual experience without any of the frills, the cast masturbating one after the other (with a limited few having a solo partner nearby) . For me, I prefer lengthier solo sessions so I rated it a respectable Rent It, but hope for future upgrades in the proposed series that will flesh things out more. In short, Solo Sweethearts did not include any moper males and stuck to a basic formula for how the ladies were allowed to do themselves, the net result making it worth checking out as a teaser for the ladies more than anything else.
